In a candid revelation, actor Asia Kate Dillon has opened up about their current struggles in the entertainment industry, citing a significant decrease in acting opportunities. The star, best known for the role of Taylor Mason in the acclaimed series *Billions*, took to social media to announce that they are seeking employment in the customer service sector.

On October 20, Dillon shared their situation with followers on Instagram. In their post, the 41-year-old articulated the challenges faced by many performers, particularly those who are transgender, non-binary, or gender non-conforming. “Now, like for many, many performer colleagues of mine — particularly those of us who are trans/nonbinary/gender nonconforming — acting work has all but diminished,” they wrote, indicating that the current climate has forced them to explore alternative career options.

The actor’s background in customer service is extensive. Dillon described a range of previous roles, from dishwasher to food runner and floor manager, emphasising their commitment to hospitality. “I continued working in food and general customer service, alongside any acting gigs I could rustle up, until the fall of 2015, when I was finally able to make the transition to a full-time income stemming from just my acting work,” they recalled.
Dillon conveyed their passion for customer service. “I love creating welcoming environments for people to relax in and connect with each other,” they stated. Their enthusiasm extended to food and drink, reinforcing their desire to re-enter the service industry. The actor expressed their ability to learn quickly and affirmed their availability for part-time work, especially during evenings and weekends.
In their Instagram post, Dillon also shared an excerpt from their résumé, illustrating their qualifications and work ethic. “Thanks in advance for your consideration,” they concluded, a polite acknowledgment of their job search.
The announcement comes as Dillon’s most recent acting credit dates back to 2025, when they appeared in the film *Outerlands*. In addition to their role in *Billions*, which spanned from 2017 to 2023, Dillon is also known for their portrayal of Brandy Epps in *Orange Is the New Black* and voiced a character in the animated series *Gen:Lock*. Additionally, they appeared in the well-known action movie *John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum*.
Dillon’s experience reflects a growing trend among actors who have publicly shared their alternative paths during periods of limited work. In a similar vein, actor Danny Pintauro, formerly of *Who’s the Boss?*, disclosed in April that he has taken on a role as an Amazon delivery driver. “The entertainment business has been soooo slow, so I’ve been doing what a lot of people do — figuring it out, showing up, and taking the work that’s there while I keep building the work I really want,” Pintauro noted in his social media update.
The realities faced by Dillon and Pintauro are indicative of broader challenges within the entertainment industry. The pressures of the job market have led many artists to seek employment outside their primary crafts, showcasing the volatility of acting careers. Dillon’s frankness not only raises awareness of these challenges but also highlights the resilience of performers adjusting to changing circumstances.
As this narrative unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the perseverance exhibited by those in the performing arts, who must often navigate the uncertainty that accompanies their passion. The responses from the public and the acting community at large underscore a collective understanding of the struggles involved in pursuing a career in such a competitive field.
In an industry marked by its ups and downs, the journey of Asia Kate Dillon exemplifies the versatility and dedication of artists committed to making their way, regardless of the obstacles ahead. Whether through traditional performance roles or alternative work avenues, the drive to succeed remains a common thread among those who share their stories.
