Rory Culkin, the 37-year-old actor known for his roles in various films and television series, has recently expressed his enthusiasm for his first Halloween as a father. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Culkin revealed that he had a specific family-themed costume in mind, inspired by a beloved comedy classic.

Culkin and his partner, Kate Arizmendi, welcomed their daughter, Havoc Moon, in May. At a recent premiere for his new Apple TV series, *Nocturne*, Culkin shared his hope for a Halloween celebration that pays homage to a popular *Saturday Night Live* sketch turned feature film, *Coneheads*. This comedic tale features a family of friendly aliens navigating suburban life, originally brought to life by actors Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin.
“I was pushing Coneheads,” Culkin mentioned, indicating that he envisioned his small family of three in the beloved alien-inspired costumes. However, he light-heartedly noted that they might have to wait until next year for that particular theme. “Maybe that’s next year. Just a family of Coneheads. We’ll see,” he mused.

Despite his costume aspirations, Culkin maintains a realistic outlook on what Halloween will entail for them this year. He candidly admitted, “I got this little baby, so it’s not like we can go out or anything.” Instead of a lively celebration, the couple plans to dress Havoc in a simple costume, take a few photographs, and turn in early for the night.
Arizmendi seemed to embrace the festive spirit ahead of the official holiday, sharing a delightful image of Havoc in a charming bat costume on her Instagram Stories. The snapshot also featured the happy couple’s reflections in a nearby mirror, signifying their new life as a family. Following this, Arizmendi shared additional photos of the family enjoying quality time together, further documenting the sweetness of parenthood.
However, parenthood has not come without its challenges. In a heartfelt post on September 24, Arizmendi opened up about her struggles with breastfeeding and its impact on her mental well-being. She poignantly reflected on how quickly time passes and the moments she cherishes now, stating, “Yesterday I had a meltdown feeling like breastfeeding was starting to take a toll on my mental health… I’ll miss feeling like an actual farm animal.”
Culkin, for his part, expressed the joys he has found in fatherhood, declaring it to be “lovely” and “really such a pleasure.” He acknowledged the struggles many new parents face but reinforced that the overwhelming love felt for his daughter far outweighs the difficulties. He remarked, “Everyone was telling me how difficult it is — and it is — but that’s outweighed, you know, so much by the love.”
As part of his new parental journey, Culkin has drawn on advice from his elder brothers, Macaulay and Kieran Culkin, both of whom have children of their own. He relayed their reassuring words: “You’ll figure it out. Everyone does, you know? So, you know, just don’t worry.” This supportive sentiment has allowed Rory to embrace his role as a father in a way that feels right to him.
By balancing his professional life and new responsibilities at home, Culkin appears to be a doting father who is also eager to explore his creative endeavours. His upcoming series, *Nocturne*, is a psychological crime thriller that is set to premiere on Apple TV on October 30. The first two episodes will be released simultaneously, followed by new episodes every Friday through December 25.
As Chelsea prepares for her first Halloween as a family, fans and followers will undoubtedly be delighted to see how the Culkins choose to celebrate, as well as how Rory embraces both his fatherly duties and acting career in the months to come.
