Man, 21, Allegedly Tried to Run Over Woman 3 Times After She Said ‘Good Morning’

A Georgia man is facing serious charges after an alarming incident in Marietta, where he allegedly attempted to run over a female jogger on multiple occasions. The suspect, 21-year-old Jesse Allen Davis, has been charged with felony aggravated assault and a misdemeanor hit-and-run following the attack that occurred on July 19.

According to local reports, the woman was jogging near the Sedgefield Apartments when she greeted Davis with a friendly “good morning.” In response, Davis abruptly decided to try to strike her with his vehicle not once, but three times. The incident unfolded in the parking lot of the apartment complex as the unsuspecting jogger became a target.

Officer Eric Smith from the Cobb County Police Department provided further details, indicating that Davis’s actions were both reckless and alarming. After the initial strike on the jogger, which resulted in her seeking refuge behind a dumpster, Davis continued to pursue her with his vehicle. “He got into a vehicle, and for whatever reason, he attempted to strike her with the vehicle while she was in the parking lot,” Officer Smith explained to ABC affiliate WSB-TV.

He recounted being nearly hit by Davis’s vehicle, stating, “When I had seen him, he almost hit my car and her.” White voiced his concerns about the safety of women in the area, commenting, “I think it’s wrong that a woman has to fear for her life, and she’s just trying to go about her normal day and workout.”

Another neighbour, who chose to remain anonymous, verified the severity of the situation, confirming that Davis had almost struck him as well. After the incident, he checked on the jogger’s wellbeing, highlighting the community’s concern for one another during such frightening circumstances.
