**New Jersey Mother Charged After Son Found Hiding in Crawl Space**

An extensive search for a missing 17-year-old boy in New Jersey has culminated in the arrest of his mother, Jennifer Buckley, who is facing charges for allegedly concealing her son’s whereabouts. East Brunswick police were alerted to the situation by the teenager’s father, who reported that his son had failed to return home.
The incident began on Tuesday, 15 September, when the boy’s father contacted local authorities around 7:50 PM. According to the East Brunswick Police Department (EBPD), the father stated that his son was meant to be dropped off at his residence at approximately 6 PM but never arrived.
Upon interviewing his mother, Jennifer Buckley, she insisted that the teenager was not at her house and expressed her inability to locate him. She further conveyed to the police that her son was feeling “upset” and had “expressed concerns” for his safety, indicating she believed he could be a danger to himself.
In response to these concerns, the police launched a comprehensive search effort to locate the missing teen. Resources were mobilised, involving patrol officers and detectives who committed significant time and effort to track him down. As part of this initiative, the missing boy was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database to enhance the search.
After an initial investigation, officers discovered inconsistencies in Buckley’s statements. This prompted a second examination of her home. During this search, detectives located the teenager hiding in a crawl space within the basement of the property. It was confirmed that he had been there the entire time, leading authorities to conclude that Buckley was aware of her son’s presence and had deliberately concealed him.
As a result of these findings, Buckley was arrested and charged with obstructing the administration of law. The charges were disclosed in a press release from the EBPD and have been reflected in public records from the New Jersey Municipal Court.
East Brunswick Police Chief Frank LoSacco commented on the case, affirming the seriousness with which the police department treats reports of missing juveniles. He praised the commitment of his officers, detectives, and staff for their relentless efforts in ensuring the teen’s safety. He also highlighted the detrimental impact of providing false information to law enforcement, stating that it diverts essential resources away from other community needs.
