In a heartfelt response to mounting body-shaming comments, actress Kate Beckinsale has recently deleted all posts from her Instagram account. This action comes amidst a wave of negative feedback regarding her appearance, particularly following her mother’s death in 2025 and her ongoing battle with mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).

The 53-year-old actress initially began addressing the issue in a series of Instagram Stories shared on 8 August. The posts highlighted hurtful remarks she had received after candidly discussing her health journey and personal losses. One such comment read, “Loosen up the Ozampic!! You were divine and now you look anorexic!”
Beckinsale took the opportunity to engage with her followers, addressing the unkind remarks directly. In a poignant reply to one critic who advised her to “gain weight,” she shared, “You take a break from Instagram for several months following the death of your mother, delete all of your posts and explain in some considerable detail about why you may have lost weight, including the fact that weight loss is one of the very first physical signs of bereavement… I think people might be broken.”
The actress’s candid discussions regarding her health have been ongoing, with reports indicating that she shared a 13-part video detailing her experiences with MCAS. The disorder causes an abnormal release of mast cells in the body, resulting in severe allergy-like symptoms. In her video, Beckinsale described the barrage of negative comments she receives whenever she posts a photo, ranging from assertions that she looks “disgusting” to accusations of being anorexic or even using drugs.
In the video, she revealed, “First off, I’ve lost my entire family, except my precious daughter, in a short amount of time,” referring to both her mother’s passing and the death of her stepfather. This immense loss has understandably affected her physical and mental well-being.
Beckinsale also emphasised that her long-standing struggle with MCAS has contributed to her health challenges. “My stomach is ground zero for how the disorder presents itself,” she explained, urging her followers to be more compassionate with their comments.
However, following the backlash to her video, she expressed regret over sharing it. In one of her Instagram Stories, she apologised to those who found her voice difficult to listen to, acknowledging her struggle with acid reflux, a symptom exacerbated during flare-ups of her condition. “I probably should not have made this video. I am truly sorry,” she admitted.
In another reflective post, she shared her disappointment at not being able to effectively raise awareness about MCAS. “I genuinely thought it would be helpful to raise some awareness about a disease that so many doctors don’t understand and it causes so much suffering,” she said. Beckinsale concluded her series of posts by responding to a comment asking if she would like to regain some weight, stating with sincerity, “Yes, very much.”
The actress also clarified her motivations for cleaning up her Instagram feed. Responding to a follower who preferred her silent aesthetic, Beckinsale quipped, “Well, you won’t again. I’ll delete everything except for the books I recommend.”
In the past, Beckinsale has been proactive in debunking rumours regarding cosmetic procedures, asserting that her appearance is largely a by-product of her health issues rather than any fillers or botox. Her transparency regarding her struggles with MCAS and the impact of personal grief demonstrates a commitment to fostering understanding around health conditions that are often misunderstood.
As Beckinsale continues to navigate her personal and professional life, her recent posts serve as a reminder of the importance of kindness, particularly within the realm of social media where critical voices can often overshadow support and compassion. Her call for empathy resonates as many individuals face their own battles behind their public personas.
