Despite having a successful career spanning over four decades, Tucci revealed that his mother remains apprehensive about the state of his acting pursuits. “They were very supportive,” he recalled, referring to his parents’ encouragement in his decision to become an actor. Tucci humorously mentioned that he had once considered a career in architecture but had to abandon that dream due to his poor mathematical skills. “This is what I want to do,” he told his parents, who backed his aspirations wholeheartedly. Although his performance in the 2006 film received widespread acclaim, he experienced a significant drought in job opportunities thereafter. “After the first Devil Wears Prada, I couldn’t really get a job,” he admitted, emphasising that while roles were offered, they often did not meet his professional standards. “I could get a job, but it wasn’t a job that was — they were less than lateral moves,” he explained.
The actor’s career trajectory has certainly been impressive, with a debut in the 1985 film Prizzi’s Honor and an extensive filmography, including over 100 projects.
