Billy Joel recently graced the stage at Carnegie Hall for a sold-out tribute concert, celebrating his illustrious musical career. The event, held on March 12, 2026, was organised by Michael Dorf and attracted a host of remarkable performers, including Joel’s daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, who captivated the audience with a heartfelt rendition of her father’s song, “This Night.”

Among the many stars in attendance were musician Pink and her daughter, Willow Sage Hart. The concert showcased a range of performances from well-known artists in the industry, including Rob Thomas, Wyclef Jean, Gavin DeGraw, Natalie Merchant, Pat Monahan, and Rufus Wainwright.

The concert began with a vibrant performance of “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song)” by Yola. Among the evening’s highlights were Thomas’s rendition of “Vienna,” Monahan’s performance of “She’s Always a Woman,” and Wainwright’s interpretation of “Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel).” Each artist brought their unique flair to Joel’s beloved tracks, making for an unforgettable night of music.

In addition to the star-studded line-up, the concert also featured performances from Merchant, who sang “Allentown,” DeGraw with “Big Shot,” and Wyclef Jean, who shared the stage with students from the Music Will nonprofit for a rendition of “My Life.” Andrew MacMahon of Jack’s Mannequin brought the audience together with a sing-along of the iconic “Piano Man” towards the end of the night.

The evening concluded with a powerful encore, where all the artists joined together to perform “You May Be Right,” leaving the audience exhilarated. A total of over £225,000 was raised for music education, a cause close to Joel’s heart. This figure was bolstered by a prior sold-out live rehearsal at City Winery New York on March 11, demonstrating the community’s support for sustaining music programmes.

Billy Joel’s personal life also drew attention at the event. Pink and her daughter were seen sharing moments with Joel during the concert. Their appearance came shortly after rumours surfaced regarding Pink’s separation from her husband, Carey Hart. However, the beloved singer later denied any reports of a breakup, indicating that their family bond remains strong.
