Jennifer Lopez has announced the release of a new song titled “Proof of Love,” which will serve as a bonus track on the vinyl reissue of her 2011 album, ‘Love?’, set to launch this November. The renowned singer and actress, who is now 57, shared insights about the track in a recent interview with Variety.

Lopez described “Proof of Love” as an exploration of the complexities that intertwine pain and love. “It’s really a beautiful song about this kind of duality,” she shared, highlighting how the themes of joy and sorrow coexist in the piece. The multi-talented artist explained that the song encapsulates the concept of love being evidenced through grief when someone departs, turning what is typically seen as heartbreak into a celebration of love.

“I wanted to make that a happy thing,” she elaborated. “I wanted to make that a marker instead of this devastating thing.” The singer aims to create an uplifting experience despite the emotional weight of the lyrics, suggesting that love, even in its most painful moments, can also be a source of joy.

The inspiration for “Proof of Love” stems in part from a significant life change for Lopez: the impending departure of her 18-year-old twins, Emme and Max, to college. The transition has forced her to confront feelings of loss and change, prompting her to return to the studio. “When they’re gone, which is devastating and sad and scary, you’re facing a life that’s totally different now,” she reflected. “What am I going to do with this space and this time?”
Lopez’s decision to create new music during this period of reflection has resulted in what she describes as “some of the best songs” she has ever written. She expressed excitement for the forthcoming work, revealing her new album embodies a sense of happiness. “It’s a very happy era album,” she stated, adding that the songs possess an element of joy with just a hint of melancholy.
The reissue of ‘Love?’ will not only feature “Proof of Love,” but Lopez will also accompany its launch with a concert film set to air on CBS. Now a classic, the original 2011 album included popular tracks such as “On the Floor,” featuring Pitbull, and “Papi.”
Lopez remains a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, with her last studio album, ‘This Is Me… Now,’ released in 2024. Her recent film projects include a Netflix romantic comedy titled ‘Office Romance,’ where she starred opposite Brett Goldstein, which premiered in June of this year.
Fans can look forward to “Proof of Love” as well as various fun tracks aimed at her LGBTQ+ audience to follow the new release. With each project, Lopez continues to showcase her versatility as an artist, adapting her music to reflect her personal experiences while connecting with her audience on a deeper level.
As November approaches, anticipation surrounding both the vinyl reissue of ‘Love?’ and the accompanying concert film builds, promising fans a distinct blend of nostalgia and fresh sounds from the iconic star.
