17-Year-Old Accused of Stabbing Boyfriend to Death Had Instagram Videos Showing Her Threatening Him with a Knife, Police Say

A 17-year-old from Pennsylvania, Dalaysia Terrell-Brown, faces serious charges, including murder, after an alleged incident that ended with the death of her boyfriend, Tamar Shaw. The Harrisburg Bureau of Police announced the charges following a stabbing that took place on April 6 in the 1400 block of Market Street.

According to official reports, Shaw, 18, died from a stab wound that had entered his chest cavity, which the Dauphin County Coroner deemed a homicide. An affidavit reveals that the coroner described the force required to create such an injury as substantial. Police were alerted to the situation after a report of a male who was losing blood due to a cut sustained to his shoulder.

Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered Shaw with a puncture wound on the left side of his chest. Witnesses recounted that he struggled to explain what had transpired, stating he was unable to breathe before collapsing. Transported to a nearby hospital, Shaw was unfortunately pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Reports surfaced indicating that the investigation was bolstered by evidence from social media. Police received a tip pointing to Instagram videos where Terrell-Brown appeared to threaten Shaw with a knife. One of the videos reportedly featured a caption that read “lmaoo cut that wrist up,” and showed Terrell-Brown pointing the knife at him while making provocative remarks.

Security footage allegedly recorded moments in which Terrell-Brown wielded a serrated knife, consistent with the weapon recovered at the scene. The affidavit detailed a chilling account of Terrell-Brown throwing a knife towards Shaw’s neck, along with additional threats directed at him during the filming of these videos.

In interviews, Terrell-Brown claimed that during the incident, the couple were in bed and that Shaw had asked her for a knife to cut paper for rolling a blunt. She asserted that she did not witness the stabbing take place and suggested that it was during a moment of moving blankets that the injury occurred. However, her assertions are met with scrutiny given the evidence collected.

Terrell-Brown has been charged not only with murder and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes but also with possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the docket sheet reviewed by local media. Following her arrest, she was remanded to the Dauphin County Prison without bail, as the court deemed her a flight risk.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 20, where further developments in the case are expected to unfold.
