Andrews, who is 47 years old, revealed that the heart attack occurred in front of her family, making the ordeal particularly challenging. Together with her co-host Charissa Thompson, she shared how the incident unfolded during their holiday gathering. Despite the traumatic impact, Erin expressed that the situation had a positive outcome due to the rapid actions taken by her family.

The NFL reporter explained, “My dad had a heart attack in Montana with us and it was awful… and it was right in front of us.” However, she highlighted the importance of quick thinking from family members, stating that she, her sister Kendra, their mother Paula, and husband Jarrett rallied together to get paramedics involved. Steve was subsequently airlifted to another hospital for urgent medical care.
Reflecting on the aftermath of the heart attack, Erin said that these months have been emotionally challenging, marked by what she described as “PTSD.” She recounted a moment that brought back painful memories when her son FaceTimed her father, who was in a hospital bed in Tampa. “My entire body seized up,” she said, emphasising the lingering fear associated with his health. Luckily, Steve was not experiencing another heart attack, although he had shown symptoms that caused significant concern for the family.
Andrews was quick to acknowledge the healthcare professionals involved in her father’s care, expressing gratitude for their role in saving his life. She remarked that these workers often do not receive the recognition they deserve. “I just feel like it’s such a thankless job,” she stated, fighting back tears as she spoke about her father’s commitment to maintaining his health. “My dad takes care of himself so much… I feel so bad, he needs a break,” she shared with deep emotion.
In a nod to the hereditary nature of heart disease, Erin and Kendra have decided to undergo checking for their own risk. The sisters are acutely aware of their family history with health issues and are taking proactive steps to safeguard their well-being. “Cardiovascular disease is f—ing horrible,” Andrews remarked, underscoring the severity of the condition that has affected her family.
Both Erin and her father are also cancer survivors, having faced serious health challenges in the past. Steve was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016, while Erin herself dealt with cervical cancer around the same time, although she kept her diagnosis private for a year. Discussing her experience, she previously recalled the emotional turmoil she faced but highlighted the importance of early detection in her recovery.
Through these traumatic experiences, Erin Andrews has reiterated the value of timely medical intervention and the crucial role that healthcare professionals play in saving lives. Her family’s experiences serve as a reminder of the unpredictability of health and the importance of being vigilant about personal well-being, especially in light of a family history of serious health issues.
As the story unfolds, Erin’s narrative not only reflects her personal struggles but also offers insight into the broader conversation around heart health and the need for awareness, particularly among women, regarding cardiovascular diseases. The Andrews family’s journey continues, marked by both the challenges they face and the gratitude they express for those who help them along the way.
