**Ty Myers Releases Sophomore Album ‘Heavy on the Soul’ and Gears Up for Headlining Tour**

Ty Myers, an 18-year-old emerging talent in the country music scene, has officially unveiled his second album, titled *Heavy on the Soul*, which became available on March 27. Known for his heartfelt lyrics and engaging melodies, Myers expresses a deep passion for songwriting and reflects on his musical journey.
In an interview, Myers shared that his love for writing songs began at a remarkably young age. “I started writing at a really young age, so I didn’t really have anything to write about personally,” he explained. “I learned how to write with my imagination, and while I still do that, I now find immense joy in writing about real-life experiences. It makes me feel closer to the song.” Some of his earliest memories involve crafting lyrics at just six or seven years old, showcasing a lifelong affinity for music.
His debut album, *The Select*, was released just last year when he was only 17. Myers described that record as “a culmination of a lot of writing,” as some tracks were penned during his early teenage years. “There’s nothing easier than when you’re in the emotion of what happened and write in that emotion,” he remarked. “It’s like it’s just falling out of your brain.”
*Heavy on the Soul* includes numerous tracks about the complexities of love and the anguish of heartbreak. Although Myers is just starting out, he carries an awareness of the depth of emotion his songs convey. His musical journey can be partly attributed to his family background; his father was a Texas dance-hall musician. “I followed him pretty much every weekend to different dance halls and played in places I shouldn’t have been,” he noted, humouring that there are countless pictures of him asleep on bar tops while he absorbed the music around him.
Aside from his father’s influence, Myers comes from a music-oriented family with multiple uncles in the industry. One uncle is a songwriter, while another leads the band for renowned artist George Strait. Additionally, his uncle Dean Sams co-founded the popular country band Lonestar. “If I didn’t love music, I would probably pull my hair out because it was just always around me,” Myers quipped, reflecting on the musical environment of his upbringing.
Originally hailing from Dripping Springs, just outside Austin, Texas, Myers made the bold decision to drop out of high school during his sophomore year to pursue his music career full-time. Despite the fast pace of his rising fame, he takes moments to appreciate his progress, often finding time for reflection during quiet nights.
Amongst the highlights of his burgeoning career, Myers made his debut appearance on *The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon* and has had the opportunity to open for the popular country artist Luke Combs. In addition to these milestones, he will embark on his headlining tour, aptly named *The Legal Tour*, commencing on June 11, with pre-sales beginning on March 31.
Maintaining a sense of groundedness amid the whirlwind of his career is essential for Myers. He appreciates the support of his close friends, who have been Pivotal since his high school days. “My best friend is so funny,” he remarked fondly. “He’s always asking me all these good questions, like ‘Yeah, we’re going to Fallon. Yes, it’s live,’ but my friends have been so supportive of me throughout this journey.”
Family plays a significant role in Myers’s life as well, with his mother managing day-to-day operations, his father overseeing touring logistics, and his sister handling photography and social media. “It’s incredibly important to have people you can trust close to you in this industry,” he said. “There’s no better feeling than knowing those people have your back.”
As Myers’s career continues to flourish, he is looking forward to life on the road, expressing a desire to one day perform at Madison Square Garden. However, he remains focused on his songwriting. “The most important thing to me is that the fan base recognises the writing because the writing is the thing,” he stated. He emphasised that receiving acknowledgement for his lyrics would bring him the greatest sense of pride.
Continuously honing his craft, Myers shared a light-hearted moment when he mentioned, “I’ll come up with lines in the shower sometimes. The acoustics in there are great!” This determination to constantly create reflects Myers’s commitment to his artistry as he carves out his place in the country music landscape.
