Despite its name suggesting a shared space, Birkhead emphasised that his daughter maintains her own private social media account, which he does not have access to. “So my Instagram is @larryanddannielynn, and there’s a caveat there,” he explained. “People often ask, ‘Why doesn’t she have her own social media?’ Well, she does. I don’t know if I even know it or follow her.”

According to Birkhead, the distinction between their social media presences is important to maintain Dannielynn’s autonomy. He noted that his daughter prefers to keep her online life private in order to avoid external judgment on her posts. “I let her have that to herself,” he stated. “She didn’t want people to judge what she put down and all that stuff.”

Birkhead further elaborated that Dannielynn operates what is referred to as a “Finsta” — a playful term denoting a secret or private account where users can share content with a select audience. Bunnie, who is also a guest on the podcast, chimed in to affirm this, saying, “So she has her own little Finsta that nobody else is allowed on.”

Birkhead revealed that he randomly chose the Instagram username as a quick solution, given that variations of both his and Dannielynn’s names were already taken. “I was like, let me just pick this. So people think that it’s our joint thing, and it’s not,” he mentioned, highlighting the confusion that often arises from the account name.

He noted that he is mindful about his posting frequency, aiming to avoid overwhelming or embarrassing his daughter. “I try to stay off of it because I don’t want to embarrass her,” he explained, recounting some playful advice she had given him about social media etiquette. “She’s like, ‘Dad, you’re hashtagging too much, you’re doing this, nobody does that.’”
