According to the Alaska State Troopers, the collision involved a head-on crash between a black 2018 Subaru Forester, driven by 38-year-old Sasha Hart from Fairbanks, and a white 2008 Ford F-250 travelling in the opposite direction. Preliminary investigations indicate that the Subaru crossed the centre line, resulting in the devastating collision.

Emergency services pronounced Sasha and her husband, 41-year-old David Hart, dead at the scene. The couple, who had recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary, were described as loving parents who adored their little girl, Paige Hart.

Paige, the couple’s two-year-old daughter, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. She was quickly transported to a hospital in Anchorage, where she is currently recovering after sustaining six broken bones.
Family members have expressed their grief over the loss of Sasha and David, while also providing updates on Paige’s recovery. Shery Elterman-Hart, David’s sister, spoke about the bond of the family and welcomed Sasha into their lives. She remarked on how close they were to David even before Sasha entered the picture, highlighting the strong connections that had formed.
Katie Ragsdale, another sister of David’s, emphasised the significance of Paige in their lives, stating that the toddler was the couple’s entire world. She noted that the young girl had inherited traits from both parents, including her mother’s expressive face and love for sweets.
The crash took place in a remote section of the Parks Highway, contributing to the challenges faced by emergency responders in the aftermath. Fairbanks Fire Department Chief Andrew Coccaro stated, “Alaska is vast. Even in populated areas, you’re a long way from help in a lot of situations.” He further explained that significant distances exist between medical facilities, making rapid access to care more difficult.
As investigations by the Alaska State Troopers continue, the community is mourning the loss of the Hart family. While the investigation remains ongoing, the impact of this tragic event is reverberating throughout the area and beyond.
Relatives have shared memories of the couple and are rallying together to support little Paige during her recovery. As announcements of memorial services and tributes arise, the local community is coming together to honour the lives of Sasha and David Hart while providing a network of love and support for their surviving daughter.
In light of this tragedy, many are reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment with loved ones. Families and friends are encouraged to reach out to one another, as they remember Sasha and David and celebrate the life of their beloved daughter, Paige.
