Kardashian, 41, discussed her past struggles with binge eating, which she experienced before finalising her divorce from Odom in December 2016. In response to a listener’s question about feeling rejected after experiencing bad dates, Kardashian opened up about her own battles with food, disclosing that she often turned to eating as an emotional crutch. “When I was younger, I used to binge eat. I went to therapy about it. For any emotional thing, I turned to food and there was just no stopping me,” she revealed.

She described being trapped in a “vicious cycle” where poor dietary choices would lead her to suppress her emotions rather than confront them. Kardashian and Odom’s marriage had already faced turbulence, with the couple initially separating in 2013, but attempts to reconcile were overshadowed by Odom’s hospitalisation following an overdose. Ultimately, it was the dissolution of their marriage that became a pivotal moment in Kardashian’s life.
“The divorce was really the catalyst for why I became obsessed in a healthy way with working out,” Kardashian said. She recognised that her unhealthy eating habits negatively impacted her quality of life, attributing issues such as “bad skin” to her lifestyle choices. Kardashian expressed a desire for a “toned” physique and to feel more comfortable in her own skin, partly driven by comparisons to her sisters: Kourtney, Kim, Kendall, and Kylie.
Reflecting on her initial efforts to adopt a more active lifestyle, the star acknowledged that the journey was fraught with challenges. “I would say, like the first six months to a year, it’s just uncomfortable because you feel you’re still insecure,” she admitted. Despite the hard work and limited immediate results on the scales, Kardashian found motivation in the process itself. “It was mental that kept me going. I loved how I felt,” she continued.
Kardashian shared the importance of gradually developing a routine, highlighting the significance of both physical activity and nutrition. “For me, it was baby steps,” she noted, marking the transition from merely exercising to focusing on a healthy diet as a crucial part of her transformation. During her podcast, she also offered practical advice to listeners facing similar insecurities. “You’re eating healthy, you’re exercising, I honestly feel the more you exercise, the clearer your mind will feel and the stronger you will feel mentally,” she recommended.
In addition to physical wellness, Kardashian highlighted the value of mental health support, stating, “If you can, I think going to therapy is so helpful. I know it did wonders for me.” This personal insight reflects her commitment to addressing not just the physical aspects of health, but also the emotional and mental dimensions, underscoring the intertwined nature of all three.
Since her divorce from Odom, Kardashian has navigated an on-and-off relationship with basketball player Tristan Thompson, which ended in 2021. As of now, she has not entered into any new public romantic relationships.
Khloé Kardashian’s introspection regarding her past struggles with binge eating and the lifestyle changes that followed her divorce illustrate a journey of resilience and self-improvement. Her candid sharing on her podcast aims to inspire others who may experience similar emotional challenges tied to their relationship with food and self-image.
