At 75 years old, Russell expressed his appreciation for the tranquil lifestyle that Colorado offers in a recent interview with Fox News. He stated that the state’s appeal lies not only in its natural beauty but also in the family connections they cherish there. His son, Wyatt Russell, and his wife Meredith Hagner, along with their children, reside nearby, making it a natural gathering spot for the family. “What I enjoy most is that [Hawn] really likes it in Colorado,” Kurt explained, emphasising their commitment to spending quality time in the state.
The seasoned actor also shared insights about their lifestyle, which mirrors the characters in his new show, “The Madison”, as they too navigate between Los Angeles and Colorado. As he reflected on their preferences, Kurt conveyed a desire to spend more time in their Colorado sanctuary, remarking, “There’s a different kind of life there. That’s primarily it.”
Russell’s journey to Colorado began when he moved there at the age of 26. Approximately a decade later, he and Hawn settled into their Old Snowmass home, which he affectionately described as his “favourite” among their numerous properties. In a conversation with the Wall Street Journal, Kurt elaborated on this beloved residence, noting, “Our Old Snowmass home is my favourite. It’s a large, beautiful log-cabin lodge on a ranch that we moved into a little over 40 years ago.”
One of the standout features of the home is the stunning mountain view, which Kurt enjoys waking up to. He described the tranquility of life in Colorado, where he finds solace in riding horses and relaxing in front of the fireplace. “I like to wake up in bed each morning looking at the mountain out back,” he shared, painting a picture of the serene lifestyle he and Goldie savour.
The couple’s properties in the region are substantial, encompassing around 70 acres of land across two adjoining sites in Aspen and Old Snowmass, according to a report from the Denver Post. Goldie owns the guesthouse, a cozy 2,700-square-foot space, while Kurt is the proprietor of the more expansive 6,500-square-foot main residence, featuring eight bedrooms.
Goldie’s son, Oliver Hudson, has previously referred to their Colorado home as a “time capsule,” highlighting the nostalgic atmosphere that surrounds them. He once shared that the family lived at the guesthouse for two years after it was built in 1985, reflecting on its vintage decor as a testament to Hawn’s refusal to modernise the space. “Mom built this house first, and then my stepdad Kurt built the other house,” he explained during a video call on “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” adding, “Those curtains that you see are like 30 years old, you know what I mean? Mom refuses to update, which, kind of, is great.”
Russell and Hawn, who have been a couple since 1983, are heralded as one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting partnerships. Together they have four children: Boston Russell, whom Kurt shares with ex-wife Season Hubley; Oliver and Kate Hudson, Goldie’s children from her marriage to Bill Hudson; and their youngest, Wyatt, born to the couple.
