A woman has been taken into custody in Texas after she allegedly drove through an active crime scene, running over a body that had already been fatally struck by another vehicle. The unfortunate chain of events unfolded on February 27, when authorities were investigating the death of a 61-year-old man on Highway 211. The individual had been struck by two separate vehicles—initially clipped by one car, causing him to fall to the ground, before being hit again by a second vehicle. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar provided details about the incident during a press briefing, noting that the man was difficult to see while crossing the road in low-light conditions.
As investigators worked at the scene, cordoning off the area and covering the deceased, Tionne Spears’s vehicle reportedly breached the safety barriers. Sheriff Salazar stated that her car drove directly into the active investigation zone, where it ran over the corpse of the already deceased individual, narrowly missing two detectives present at the scene.
Spears was subsequently arrested and, according to Sheriff Salazar, she is suspected of being intoxicated at the time. Investigators discovered what is believed to be khat—a stimulant native to Africa—inside her vehicle.
