A tragic incident in Georgia has left a community in mourning following the death of a seven-year-old girl named Ariella Nur. The young girl died on 28 October 2023 after a car crash involving her father’s vehicle, which occurred just before they were set to arrive home.

Ariella was travelling with her father, John Nur, in a red Kia Forte when their vehicle collided with a blue Chevrolet Silverado at an intersection on Macland Road. According to the Cobb County Police, the Kia was making a left turn onto Ernest Barrett Parkway at the time of the accident. Sadly, the vehicle made the turn in front of the Chevrolet, leading to a collision that flipped the truck onto its roof.
Emergency services responded promptly to the scene; however, Ariella did not survive the impact and was pronounced dead at the location of the crash. In contrast, the driver of the Chevrolet was taken to hospital with injuries that were fortunately not life-threatening. Miraculously, John Nur did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
In a poignant interview with local news, John Nur expressed his profound grief. “She was my favourite person in the world,” he shared. The father-daughter duo had almost reached home when the tragedy struck, and John is now grappling with the agony of losing his precious daughter.
Ariella was a second grader at A.L. Burruss Elementary School in Marietta, where she was well-loved by her peers and teachers alike. The school released a heartfelt statement in response to the tragic event, stating, “Our community is walking through the tremendous loss of our beloved friend and classmate.” The school also extended condolences to Ariella’s mother, Julie, her sister, Tiana, and all family members and friends who cherished the young girl.
In the wake of this heartbreaking event, John Nur has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses, which has raised nearly £6,000 as of 3 November. In his appeal, he articulated the emotional and financial burdens that come with such an unexpected loss. “Losing Ariella has left us devastated, and we are trying to find our way through unimaginable grief while also facing the difficult expenses that come with laying our sweet girl to rest,” he wrote.
