Jack Osbourne has recently shared his personal journey coping with multiple sclerosis (MS), revealing the challenges he faced upon receiving the diagnosis at the age of 26. The reality television star first learned about his condition shortly after getting sober, a moment that he described as both transformative and daunting. His candid reflections came during an episode of the podcast *MesSy*, hosted by Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.

The diagnosis, which Osbourne received in 2012, was a shock to him, especially as he navigated the early stages of fatherhood with the arrival of his daughter, Pearl Clementine. “I felt an overwhelming sense of frustration. I was in a new phase of life, and I quickly found myself questioning, ‘What was the point of getting sober?’” he recounted. “It just sent me spiralling into negativity. I had no understanding of what multiple sclerosis really was; all I knew was that it was a serious illness.”
Osbourne admitted that his initial knowledge of MS was shaped by misconceptions. “I thought MS was this horrible combination of Parkinson’s and ALS,” he explained. According to the National MS Society, MS is described as an unpredictable condition that affects the central nervous system, disrupting communication pathways between the brain and the rest of the body.
In the aftermath of his diagnosis, Osbourne sought support from a mentor who had also undergone the process of sobriety. He detailed the tough-love approach his friend employed. “He asked me, ‘Are you gonna die?’ I said no, and he replied, ‘Cool, call me tomorrow,’ before hanging up,” Osbourne recalled with a touch of humour. This interaction encouraged him to focus on the present moment rather than succumb to fear about the future.
The following day, the mentor continued this straightforward dialogue. “He called to check in, and we went through the same questions. ‘You doing okay?’ ‘Yep.’ ‘You gonna die today?’ ‘No.’ ‘Cool, call me tomorrow.’” This recurring prompt instilled in Osbourne a sense of resilience, reminding him to appreciate each day as it comes.
Osbourne acknowledges that his MS diagnosis became a catalyst for change in his life. It led him to undertake what he called “24-hour challenges,” pushing his physical limits in the face of adversity. Such endurance competitions became a way for him to assert that the disease would not overwhelm him. “I adopted a mindset of determination. I wasn’t going to let MS define me,” he said.
His resolve to confront such challenges led him to take part in the reality series *Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test* in 2023. Osbourne expressed a desire to participate, stating, “Even with MS, I found joy in the commitment to push my limits and do something I love.” His participation in the show exemplifies his belief that enjoyment and determination can exist alongside the unpredictability of the illness.
Ultimately, Osbourne has learned that while he cannot predict how his MS will progress, he retains control over how he manages it. “I choose how I treat this illness, doing my best every step of the way,” he shared. His story of perseverance and positivity encourages others facing similar obstacles to adopt a similar outlook, embracing each day as an opportunity for growth and resilience.
As Osbourne continues to navigate life with MS, he remains an advocate for living in the moment, reminding others that while challenges may arise, the choice to fight against them is entirely within one’s control. His journey serves as a testament to the power of positivity and the importance of seeking support from those around us.
