The crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. at the junction of Hank Aaron Drive and Glenn Street. Initial reports indicate that Gamble’s vehicle was struck by a car driven by Nikolai Dunford, who is accused of travelling at a speed of 94 miles per hour in an area where the speed limit is only 35 miles per hour. Both Gamble and Dunford were taken to hospital following the accident, but sadly, Gamble was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Dunford, who was driving a Lexus at the time of the crash, has since been charged with several offences, including reckless driving, excessive speeding, and first-degree vehicular homicide. He is presently in custody at the Fulton County Jail, facing serious charges that reflect the gravity of the incident.
In a statement released the day after her passing, Clark Atlanta University expressed its deep sorrow at the loss of Gamble, describing her as a valued member of the university community. “It is with profound sadness that Clark Atlanta University acknowledges the passing of Morgan Gamble, a member of our Panther family,” the message read. The institution further offered condolences to Gamble’s family, friends, and classmates, while urging the community to respect their privacy during such a difficult period.
In response to the devastating news, the university has made counselling services available to students who may be struggling with the impact of the tragedy. The emotional toll of such a loss can be particularly hard on the student community, highlighting the importance of support during challenging times.
Morgan Gamble was a dedicated student with aspirations in the entertainment industry. Recently, she had taken up a role as a background performer in the Netflix reboot of the beloved series, A Different World. Felicia Pride, the showrunner of the reboot, paid tribute to her, recognising both her academic prowess and her contributions to the production. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Pride expressed her sadness, stating, “So very sorry and sad to hear about the passing of Morgan Gamble, who in addition to being a superstar student at Clark Atlanta, was also a background performer on A DIFFERENT WORLD. We were grateful to have her be a part.”
The response from the community has been an outpouring of grief as friends and classmates take to social media to remember Gamble’s bright spirit and potential. Her untimely death resonates within the university and beyond, igniting conversations about road safety and the dangers of excessive speeding.
The Atlanta Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and the charges against Dunford. As the community grapples with this loss, thoughts are turned towards the future and the need for safer roads to prevent such tragedies.
In the wake of this incident, the discussions around vehicular safety are likely to continue, as friends, family, and fellow students of Morgan Gamble work to find solace in their memories of her. The impact of her life, though cut short, has left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
