A 27-year-old woman has been charged with theft after allegedly failing to deliver floral arrangements for weddings across several states. Lauren Taylor Bogardus is facing two felony counts alongside seven misdemeanor charges stemming from accusations that she misappropriated almost £7,200 from clients, as reported by multiple local outlets including CBS News and Coosa Valley News.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has indicated that Bogardus’s alleged fraudulent activities affected at least eight customers in states such as Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida, Ohio, and Colorado. The incidents reportedly occurred over a span of more than a year, between May 2025 and June 2026.
It is claimed that Bogardus would collect payments for wedding floral arrangements and other related supplies but ultimately failed to deliver the promised products. Instead of fulfilling her commitments, investigators allege that she used the funds for personal expenses. The first reported instance of this alleged theft took place in May 2025, when she accepted more than £450 from a customer for services she never rendered.

In one of the more significant cases, a couple is said to have paid Bogardus nearly £2,500 for wedding flowers between September and October 2025, but according to investigators, they did not receive any arrangements. Another customer also reportedly handed over more than £1,500 for her services around the same time, only to be met with similar disappointment.
Continuing into the following year, the authorities allege that Bogardus’s actions persisted. Reports indicate that she accepted over £900 from one client on March 16, 2026, and received more than £600 from another individual just a few months later in June. The range of charges varied, with amounts taken from customers spanning from around £220 to nearly £2,500, ultimately totalling close to £9,000.

Additional requests for statements regarding the case have been made to the FCSO, although a response has yet to be received. This incident marks not the first run-in with the law for Bogardus; she was previously arrested in 2024 on charges of felony theft by shoplifting. During that incident, she allegedly exited a Walmart store with more than £700 worth of merchandise without settling the bill.
The local community has been left shaken by these allegations, especially those who had hoped to use Bogardus’s services for what should have been special moments in their lives. Victims now face the double loss of both financial resources and significant emotional distress as they deal with the disappointments and lost dreams associated with their wedding plans.
As this case unfolds, it highlights the potential vulnerabilities inherent in small businesses and service providers, particularly during emotionally charged occasions such as weddings where trust is paramount. This situation serves as a cautionary tale about the need for due diligence when selecting vendors for major life events.
Lauren Taylor Bogardus is expected to face trial, where the full extent of the accusations will be brought to light. With the community watching closely, her case further underlines the importance of holding individuals accountable for fraudulent behaviour in the hopes of protecting future customers from similar fates.
