At the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Sebastian Stan shared insights into his latest film, ‘Fjord’, during a conversation with PEOPLE. The 44-year-old actor, renowned for his performances in blockbuster franchises such as ‘The Avengers’, has recently embraced a bold new look: a buzzcut, which he debuted in April 2025.
Stan’s new hairstyle is not merely a fashion statement but a commitment to his craft. He explained that parting with his hair for the role in ‘Fjord’, directed by Cristian Mungiu, was part of an effort to portray his character authentically. “It felt good,” he remarked, adding that the change not only visually transformed him but also made practical aspects of his job easier—“I saved a lot of time, to be honest!”
In the film ‘Fjord’, Stan portrays Mihai Gheorghiu, an evangelical father relocating from Romania to a secluded Norwegian village with his family. The storyline pulls inspiration from the real-life experiences of Marius and Ruth Bodnariu, highlighting the challenges faced by conservative families in a new and contrasting cultural landscape. For Stan, this project holds particular significance, as he himself emigrated from Romania to Austria at the age of eight before settling in the United States at twelve. He shared how acting in a film in his native language adds an extra layer of personal connection to this project, making it “very special.”
Additionally, while specific details about Stan’s role in ‘The Batman: Part II’, scheduled for release in 2028, remain under wraps, he has been spotted maintaining his shaved head during ongoing filming this year. This is not the only project he has on the horizon; he is also set to appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, launching in theatres on December 18 this year.
