In the inaugural episode, Glassman, 39, delves into her past romantic involvement with Jon Gosselin, a former star of ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’, who is now 49. The televised discussions surround how her past relationship negatively impacted her connection with her mother, who had a significant influence over her personal life. Glassman confided in fellow Housewife Erin Lichy, revealing that her mother had played a pivotal role in her dating Gosselin.

“My mother is very eccentric and I often felt like I needed to manage her emotions,” Glassman explained. She expressed a sense of duty to ensure her mother’s happiness, which contributed to her decision to date Gosselin. “The reason I dated Jon is because he was my mum’s friend, and she thought he was a great guy,” she disclosed, emphasising that her mother’s views were a considerable factor in her romantic choices.
Their relationship became the subject of intense public scrutiny, particularly since it began soon after Gosselin’s marital split from Kate Gosselin. The couple share eight children: twins Mady and Cara, along with sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Collin, Aaden, Leah, and Joel. Glassman characterised her relationship with Gosselin as one that the tabloids painted with a negative brush. She recalled the narrative that branded her a “home-wrecker.”
“I was portrayed as the girl who ruined that marriage. It wasn’t even true,” she argued, referencing the fallout from their romance. Despite the relentless media storm, Glassman attempted to set the record straight in a previous interview, stating that her relationship with Gosselin began months after his separation from Kate. At that time, she expressed frustration at being labelled as merely a fame-seeker.
The aftermath of the highly publicised relationship led to strains in her relationship with her mother. “After the Jon thing, I wasn’t getting support from my mum, who, like, disappeared. So I kind of became a lone wolf,” she admitted. This acknowledgment showcases the complexities of familial relationships, particularly how personal choices can lead to friction.
Prior to her appearance in the Real Housewives series, Glassman explained that her experiences in the tabloids inadvertently sparked her interest in public relations. “I fell into P.R. by being in the tabloids at a young age,” she mentioned. Her motivation for entering the industry was born out of a desire to help others navigate their own crises.
In addition to discussing her past, Glassman provided insights into her current life, revealing she has been married for 15 years. Despite her partner’s reluctance to appear on the show, she refers to their relationship as a “lavender marriage,” indicating a dynamic that she plans to explore in the coming episodes. The couple’s long-standing friendship dates back to their childhood when they met as neighbours in Martha’s Vineyard.
Joining Glassman in the new season are two other new cast members, fitness entrepreneur Erika Hammond and celebrity make-up artist Daisy Toye. The returning Housewives this season include Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, Sai de Silva, and Carole Radziwill. The thirteenth iteration of the franchise offers a mix of intense emotions, friendship dynamics, and fresh experiences, aimed at entertaining fans and ensuring relatable content.
The latest season promises to take viewers on an exciting journey across the city, depicting a blend of ambition and drama as the Housewife cast tackles personal and interpersonal challenges. Each episode is set to reveal new conflicts and evolving friendships, a formula that has proven successful in previous seasons.
New episodes of ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ air on Tuesday evenings, providing audiences with a weekly dose of the glamorous yet tumultuous lives of its cast members. The show is available to stream the following day on Peacock, allowing even broader access to its growing fanbase.
