A 38-year-old mother has tragically lost her life following a head-on collision on a California highway. Myeisha Darlene Pierson, a mother of two, was driving her brother home after his first day at work when the accident occurred in the early hours of July 21.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place shortly after midnight on Interstate 405 in Hawthorne. Officers reported seeing a Toyota travelling in the wrong direction on the motorway and attempted to intercept the vehicle when they later discovered a collision had occurred south of Rosecrans Avenue.
Investigations revealed that the Toyota had been travelling south in the northbound lanes when it collided with a Dodge that was heading north in the High Occupancy Vehicle lane. Pierson was the driver of the Dodge and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Her brother, Dashawn Henderson, who was in the passenger seat, sustained moderate injuries, while the driver of the Toyota was seriously hurt and taken to a local hospital.
