Addressing the common misunderstanding, Spears stated, “If we’re talking about a concrete misconception, it would be that everybody thinks Zoey ended because I got pregnant. And that is not true.” Her clarification comes in response to the frequent comments directed at Maddie on social media, where users often hold her accountable for the show’s cancellation.

The actress elaborated on the confusion surrounding television production timelines. “People who aren’t in the business don’t understand,” she explained, noting that the process of shooting a season and airing it can take significant time. “You shoot it, and it comes out maybe the next year or something,” she added.

Spears also commented on the impact these online remarks have on her daughter, who often sees posts blaming her for the show’s ending. “We laugh about it,” she said, while acknowledging the humorous side to the accusations. Nevertheless, she asserted, “It’s just not the truth.”
