Hall, 58, recalled their early days working together on “Saturday Night Live” and the iconic film “Weird Science.” Their professional journey began in the 1980s, and Hall expressed pride in being a steadfast friend to Downey, who is now 61. He stated, “I’ve been there for him. Years ago when he was in trouble with the law, I spent a little time in the clink — so to speak — I went to visit him. We just have a long history together.”

Downey’s path has been marked by struggles with addiction, which he has openly discussed. Since achieving sobriety in 2003, he has transformed his life and career. The actor faced significant legal troubles in the late 1990s, including arrests for drug and weapon charges. Following multiple parole violations, he spent 15 months in prison before being pardoned in 2015 by then-California Governor Jerry Brown. He described his time behind bars as akin to “being sent to a distant planet where there is no way home.”

As both actors continue to navigate their careers, Hall is set to star in Fox’s upcoming competition series “Nation’s Dumbest,” alongside various other projects, including “S.W.A.T. Exiles” and the horror film “Halloween Store.” Meanwhile, Downey is anticipated to return to the big screen as the villain Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s forthcoming films, “Avengers: Doomsday,” scheduled for release on December 18, 2024, and “Avengers: Secret Wars,” hitting theatres on December 17, 2027.
