For the first time in 84 years, Miami has reached a staggering temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit, as a severe heatwave continues to engulf much of the southern United States. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), this remarkable temperature is only the second instance of reaching 100 degrees since Miami began keeping weather records in 1895. The current heatwave is predominantly a result of shifting wind patterns. Oklahoma City also made headlines on the same day, reaching a peak temperature of 109 degrees, marking its first occurrence of such high temperatures this late in the year. The National Weather Service has since issued another Heat Advisory for all of South Florida, anticipating that heat index values—essentially how hot it feels when humidity is taken into account—could reach between 105 and 112 degrees. With the possibility of another 100-degree day in the forecast, residents are advised to remain cautious and prepared for any potential adverse effects.

Weather predictions indicate that Miami could once again be on the brink of another sweltering day, with a 10% chance of overwhelming the 100-degree mark again. The outcome appears to hinge on the timing of the anticipated sea breeze, which may arrive later in the day. In addition, scattered thunderstorms are also expected, seeking to bring some relief from the relentless heat.
