The Jonas Brothers are gearing up for a nostalgic return to the musical world of *Camp Rock*, nearly two decades since they first took on their iconic roles. Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas recently shared their experiences of the original films during an episode of their podcast, *Hey Jonas!*, as they prepare for *Camp Rock 3*. This new instalment is set to introduce a new generation of campers while the brothers reprise their beloved characters.

Launched in 2026, the *Hey Jonas!* podcast serves as an intimate space for the brothers to discuss their lives, careers, and family dynamics. As they reminisced about their days on set, the brothers revisited many fond – and sometimes less glamorous – memories, reliving the excitement and challenges of making both *Camp Rock* and its sequel *Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam*.

Nick Jonas kicked off the nostalgia trip by recounting a memorable scene creation from the original *Camp Rock*. He described arriving on set early one morning to discover that the cast was spontaneously creating the film’s iconic stomp-and-clap sequence. “It was 7:00 or 8:00 in the morning, and we just hear this noise. I thought to myself, ‘What is happening?’ It wasn’t scripted,” he shared. Nick’s surprise highlighted the organic creativity that often unfolds in the filmmaking process.
Joe, who portrayed Shane Gray, confirmed Nick’s story and reflected on how the iconic moment materialised despite initial resistance from the cast. “We basically refused to do the thing,” Nick noted, humourously alluding to the brothers’ hesitance before embracing the idea. Joe added, “That’s why we added drumsticks, which ended up making it kind of iconic.” Their camaraderie is evident as they tease each other about their roles, with Joe jokingly noting his central position in the film.
The *Camp Rock* franchise began in 2008 and featured the Jonas Brothers alongside Demi Lovato, who played Mitchie. The sequel in 2010 brought them back to camp, this time facing off against the rival Camp Star. Now, Disney has confirmed their return as Connect 3 in the upcoming *Camp Rock 3*, with the brothers also taking on the role of executive producers.
Yet, not all memories from the original shoots were filled with laughter. Joe shared a particularly chilling experience of jumping into a freezing lake during filming. “I had to jump in a freezing lake, even though it’s summertime,” he recalled, laughing. Nick lightheartedly reminded Joe that there are far worse experiences in Hollywood, sparking cheerful banter among the brothers.
Joe also reminisced about being unexpectedly doused with cold water by his on-screen uncle, which added to the discomfort of shooting at early hours. “My uncle in the movie, Uncle Brown, wakes me up with cold water… He decided to get the coldest water,” he recalled with amusement. Kevin joked about the recurring theme of water in *Camp Rock*, adding a light-hearted spin to their shared experiences.
Among the less glamorous aspects of filming, Joe remembered his introduction to the craft services table, or “crafty”, a crucial element for actors during long shoots. He fondly recalled his affinity for Reese’s Pieces, which kept him going during particularly exhausting night shoots. “I remember there was one night when we were filming the final jam against Camp Star… It was just sugar,” he laughed, highlighting the camaraderie that formed through shared snacks and long hours.
Beyond the reminiscing about their film days, the podcast took a more serious turn as Nick opened up about his experience with Type 1 diabetes. Diagnosed at the age of 13, he discussed how he has learned to manage the condition over the years and emphasised the importance of community support in his journey.
“I took great pride in handling my diabetes largely by myself,” Nick reflected. “As I got older, I realised that leaning on friends and family is vital.” His honest discussion struck a chord with his brothers, who expressed their commitment to educating themselves about diabetes to better support Nick.
With *Camp Rock 3* set to launch on August 13, 2026, and subsequently available on Disney+ the following day, the Jonas Brothers are ready to usher in both nostalgia and new adventures. Their hindsight, humour, and candid moments in the *Hey Jonas!* podcast reveal that while they are revisiting their roots, they are also embracing growth and the importance of support in both their personal and professional lives.
