Megan Thee Stallion’s former cameraman, Emilio Garcia, is set to take his lawsuit against the rapper and her management company Roc Nation to trial following a ruling from a federal judge earlier this month. The decision emerged from a hearing on 7 August, where the judge partially dismissed some of Garcia’s claims, yet also allowed significant parts of the lawsuit to go forward.

Garcia worked for Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, from 2018 until 2023. In his legal filing, he accuses the artist of fostering a hostile working environment rife with sexual harassment and wage violations. While the court dismissed claims regarding retaliation under New York City and State Human Rights Laws, it found enough grounds for the case to continue, particularly around alleged violations of wage laws and California’s labour codes.
In comments following the court’s decision, Garcia’s attorney, Ron Zambrano, expressed gratitude to the judge for an examination of the evidence that supported their side of the argument. “Mr Garcia is looking forward to having his day in court,” he stated, highlighting the anticipation of testifying witnesses, including both Thee Stallion and Roc Nation CEO, Desiree Perez.

They detailed their view that Garcia has manipulated a standard wage dispute into sensational claims of misconduct and harassment.
