Jewellery expert Nilesh Rakholia weighed in on the ring’s significance, noting that it could be valued at approximately £1.1 million to £1.35 million. “Working from the proportions of the ring against Carmen’s hand, I’d put the centre stone plausibly in the 8 to 10-carat region,” Rakholia explained.
The jeweller, founder of Abelini, went on to detail that the potential value of the diamond depends on several factors, including its natural origin. “With yellow diamonds, colour is everything. The stronger and more saturated the yellow, the rarer and more valuable the stone becomes,” he noted. He further added that while two diamonds may weigh the same, their colours could place them in very different price brackets.
In recent years, many couples have turned to lab-grown diamonds, which provide a similar aesthetic to natural stones but at a fraction of the cost. Rakholia remarked that these diamonds can deliver a visually pleasing effect without the associated expenses of their natural counterparts.
