Actor Jason Sudeikis has expressed his enthusiasm for showcasing his hometown of Kansas City in the premiere of season 4 of the hit Apple TV series, *Ted Lasso*. In a recent conversation with PEOPLE, Sudeikis shared his joy in revisiting the city and introducing his co-stars to its unique culture and charm.

The latest season of *Ted Lasso* places a spotlight on Kansas City, with the opening episode vividly capturing the city’s spirit. Sudeikis, who was born and raised in the area, described his experience of returning home as a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with his roots. He enjoys travelling back to Kansas City several times a year, often for charity events, where he frequently meets visitors keen to experience what the city has to offer.
“Getting to go back home is something I love,” Sudeikis remarked, noting how these visits allow him to see the city anew through the eyes of others. This fresh perspective has allowed him to rediscover the beauty and warmth of Kansas City, reinforcing his personal connection to the place.
While some of his colleagues, such as Hannah Waddingham and Brendan Hunt, are already familiar with Kansas City, other cast members, including Juno Temple and Jeremy Swift, experienced the city for the first time. Sudeikis conveyed his delight at watching their reactions as they explored the area during filming. “By the end of our time shooting there, which was about ten days, they loved it,” he said, highlighting the city’s welcoming nature.
The actor emphasised how Kansas City consistently showcases its hospitality, stating, “It shows up and shows out whenever out-of-towners appear.” He reflected on the city’s enthusiasm during events like the World Cup, where its residents embraced visitors and demonstrated their vibrant community spirit.
A quintessential element of the season premiere is the inclusion of Gates Bar-B-Q, a beloved barbecue restaurant that has been part of Kansas City’s culinary landscape since 1946. In the episode, Sudeikis’s character, Ted, introduces his British friends to the famous establishment, creating a memorable scene that attests to the city’s dining culture.
When discussing his favourite meal at Gates, Sudeikis preferred a straightforward order of “pulled pork or the burnt ends.” He expressed confidence in the restaurant’s offerings, adding, “You can’t go wrong with burnt ends at any of the establishments. And you could put that sauce on just about anything.”
*Ted Lasso* season 4 debuted on 5 August 2026, with new episodes set to be released weekly until 7 October. The series continues to resonate with audiences, and Sudeikis’s homage to his hometown adds a heartfelt touch to the storylines.
As viewers tune in each week, they will not only witness an engaging narrative but also get a glimpse of Kansas City through Sudeikis’s eyes. His pride in the city’s culture ensures that it remains an integral aspect of the show’s storytelling, inviting fans to appreciate the vibrant community he holds dear.
