The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reported that North was serving as a spotter for the Pell City Sail Club when he fell into the water around 3 p.m. While attempting to move from a sailboat to an unoccupied jon boat, a small, flat-bottomed aluminium vessel, he lost his balance and disappeared beneath the surface.
