Emergency services received reports of a single-vehicle collision at approximately 2:37 AM local time, near the intersection of Rancho Road and Lilac Road. Upon arrival, they found a 2013 Dodge Charger on its side, having apparently lost control while travelling at a notably high speed. Authorities indicated that the four-door vehicle, designed to accommodate only five occupants, was carrying eight teenagers at the time of the incident.
The driver reportedly lost control of the car as they approached the intersection, leading to the vehicle veering off the roadway and rolling over. The impact of the crash was severe enough to eject one teenager from the car. When first responders arrived, it was established that six of the teens sustained various injuries and required immediate medical attention.

Tragically, despite efforts to save the injured teens, one 17-year-old boy later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. As of now, the sheriff’s office has not disclosed the identity of the deceased. The circumstances surrounding the crash led to road closures in the area, with the affected roadway being closed for approximately six hours while investigators examined the scene and interviewed potential witnesses.

The ongoing investigation is being led by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Regional Major Accident Investigative Team. Currently, no information has been released regarding whether any charges will be filed in connection with this incident, nor has the identity of the deceased been made public.
Officials have expressed a desire to gather further information, urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or possesses additional details to come forward. Those with information are encouraged to contact Deputy D. McCarter at the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station or make a report via the Sheriff’s Dispatch line.
The tragic nature of the incident has prompted a community response, with many expressing their condolences for the young victim and concern for the others involved in the crash. The loss of a life at such a young age brings to light the risks associated with reckless driving, particularly when multiple passengers are present in a vehicle.
As investigations continue, further updates are expected regarding both the crash and the health status of the remaining teens involved. Members of the community and authorities are left to process the impact of this devastating event.
