Celebrated musician couple Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa have marked an impressive three and a half decades of marriage. The milestone was commemorated on 8 June, when Scialfa shared a touching post on Instagram featuring a nostalgic photograph from the morning after their wedding in 1991.

In the heartwarming image, the couple’s wedding attire is seen draped casually over a chair, accompanied by an ottoman and a table adorned with a vase of pink roses. A pair of western boots sits on the floor, encapsulating the laid-back yet tender atmosphere of the moment. In her post, Scialfa, who is 72, reflected, “1991-morning after our wedding. My dress, Bruce’s suit, a mandolin and snakes curving up his boots. That says it all.”

Springsteen, now 76, and Scialfa tied the knot in their home in Los Angeles, where their romance blossomed years earlier. The two first met in the 1980s at The Stone Pony, a famous music venue in Asbury Park, New Jersey, where both were prominent figures in the local music scene. Their shared passion for music fostered a close friendship, which eventually led to Scialfa touring with Springsteen as a backup vocalist during his iconic 1984 “Born in the U.S.A.” tour.
The couple’s relationship escalated to a romantic partnership following Springsteen’s separation from his first wife, Julianne Phillips, in 1988. In July 1990, they welcomed their first child, son Evan. The family expanded soon after with the birth of their daughter Jessica in December 1991, followed by a second son, Sam, in January 1994.
A new chapter in the couple’s life arrived in 2022 when they embraced grandparenthood for the first time with the arrival of their granddaughter, Lily, who was born to Sam and his partner.
Reflecting on their relationship, Springsteen previously shared that Scialfa has always seen the real him. In a candid interview with Time magazine, he remarked, “I knew she saw me for who I really was. A complicated, messy person. I didn’t have to pretend. I was broken. She was broken in her own way, and we were each other’s personal projects.”
Springsteen fondly recalled their first encounter at The Stone Pony, describing his immediate attraction to Scialfa. “I went, ‘Who is that gorgeous redhead singing like Ronnie Spector or Dusty Springfield?’” he recalled, reflecting on the spark that ignited their enduring partnership once she stepped off stage that night.
As they celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary last year, Scialfa shared a sweet throwback photo from their first anniversary, illustrating their affectionate bond. In her post, she described a surprise party organised by Springsteen, highlighting the love and joy that have characterised their years together. “Today marks 34 years… even though we already had Evan and Jess was on the way… spent the evening with Bruce, Sam, and our granddaughter Lily…”
As the couple steps into their 36th year together, fans and followers of both musicians continue to celebrate their love story and the music that has brought joy to millions. The endearing moments shared through social media not only showcase their deep connection but also serve as reminders of the power of enduring love in the world of fame and success.
