Y’lan Noel, the talented actor captivating audiences in the Netflix thriller “Nemesis”, has expressed eagerness for another season filled with heightened suspense and action. Co-created by Courtney A. Kemp and Tani Marole, the series delves into an electrifying rivalry between a cunning criminal mastermind and a relentless detective determined to apprehend him.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Noel discussed his approach to portraying a character layered with complexity and humanity, rather than solely showcasing his villainous traits. He noted that the show’s writing provided a robust foundation for his character, allowing him to explore emotional depth while delivering thrilling performances.
“I think it started with the script,” Noel stated. “Courtney and Tani wrote a character who was fully fleshed out, allowing me to step beyond one-dimensional stereotypes.” His character’s smooth and sophisticated exterior conceals a turbulent inner life. Noel emphasised the importance of exploring the pain and grief that inform his character’s motivations. “I was keen on uncovering the wounds he carries and how they shape his actions,” he added.
The role has demanded both emotional resilience and physical stamina. Noel, who has a background in athletics, found that his previous experience in track and field equipped him well for the physically demanding nature of the action scenes. “I enjoy leaving it all on the field, especially for this character,” he remarked. “There’s a satisfaction in giving everything during filming, even in the face of exhaustion.”
Before embarking on his acting career, Noel was immersed in sports, particularly track and field, where he excelled enough to earn a scholarship. He once saw a future devoted to athletics, but discovering acting made it clear that this new path held even greater potential. “Acting is a gift that never stops giving,” he reflected, contrasting it with the finite nature of a sports career.
The adrenaline-fueled atmosphere of “Nemesis” often saw Noel immersed in intense heist sequences, an experience he found exhilarating. “The heists really got my blood pumping. It’s fun to simulate being in high-stakes situations, although I have no wish to experience anything like that in real life,” he shared. His athleticism has also enabled him to reconnect with the energetic roles that first endeared him to fans in projects like “The Purge”.
Filming extensively across Los Angeles added another layer to the show’s narrative. Although he had recently relocated from the area, the city itself became integral to the story, almost acting as an additional character. “We filmed in every corner of L.A.,” Noel noted, explaining how the vibrant setting enhanced the series’ impact.
While exhilarating action is a hallmark of “Nemesis”, Noel believes that it is the complexity of relationships between characters that truly captivates viewers. He highlighted the mutual respect between the adversaries: “They see parts of themselves in one another, and that’s what deepens their rivalry.”
With the show’s audience eagerly consuming the episodes, the unexpected finale has left many questions unanswered. Noel expressed hope that the story would continue: “The world Courtney and Tani created deserves more conversations, and I believe Netflix’s global reach can facilitate that,” he said.
As the prospect of a second season looms, Noel’s excitement for what’s to come is palpable. “I’m very, very excited for viewers to see how this unfolds. Hopefully, we’ll get to explore it further in season two,” he concluded optimistically.
“Nemesis” is currently available for streaming on Netflix, allowing fans to immerse themselves in the heart-pounding drama that has captured the attention of audiences worldwide. As discussions of a potential sequel unfold, fans will be eagerly awaiting the continuation of this thrilling narrative.
