In a heartwarming collaboration, Grammy-nominated rapper Wiz Khalifa is embracing his mother’s culinary skills through a partnership with Lawry’s in their new campaign titled “Mama Said Lawry’s.” At 38 years old, Khalifa is giving the spotlight to his mother, Katie “Peachie” Wimbush-Polk, highlighting the bond between family and food.
Peachie, known for her delicious home-cooked meals, expressed her love for cooking in an interview. “I love to cook,” she stated, adding that she enjoys “freestyling” in the kitchen much like her son does in his music career. She is gearing up for the upcoming Memorial Day by preparing summer staples such as steaks and burgers, wherein she plans to incorporate Lawry’s Seasoned Salt into her dishes. Peachie’s essential piece of advice for budding chefs is straightforward yet impactful: “Season everything.”

Khalifa has fond memories tied to his mother’s cooking, particularly her renowned turkey spaghetti, which has been his favourite since childhood. Peachie often sends her son off on tours with a fresh pot of this dish, providing him a comforting taste of home wherever he goes. Reflecting on their distinct family dynamic, she noted, “He’s been entertaining me since he was three years old,” describing him as a creative and energetic child.
In this generation, Peachie also recognises similarities between her son and his children—13-year-old Sebastian, whom he shares with ex-partner Amber Rose, and 22-month-old Kaydence, from his relationship with Aimee Aguilar. While caring for Kaydence during his performances, Peachie is often struck by how much the youngsters mirror their father in both mannerisms and personality.

“Their resemblance is uncanny,” she remarked, adding that the experience of seeing her grandchildren reflects her own memories of Wiz at a similar age. She noted, “It is the freakiest thing ever. They’re literally a mirror of each other.” Beyond their physical similarities, Peachie expressed immense pride in the father Khalifa has become and the person he is overall, stating, “I could burst with pride over those two things.”
Wiz Khalifa, well-known for his hit song “Black and Yellow,” also shared his passion for cooking. He revealed that he frequently uses Lawry’s seasoning in his dishes, with garlic salt being his personal favourite. Despite sharing a culinary connection, Peachie emphasises her need for space while cooking, calling herself “territorial AF.” Khalifa concurs, noting that their cooking styles do not blend well in the kitchen as, “There’s no collabs going on in the kitchen.”
Alongside his culinary endeavours, Khalifa is currently on tour with fellow rapper MGK for the Lost Americana Tour. The duo is also releasing their new mixtape, “Blog Era Boyz,” which serves as a nostalgic tribute to the musical landscape of the 2010s, a period that played a crucial role in their rise to fame. Recent singles titled “girl next door” and “everything tatted” were launched earlier this month, and Khalifa mentioned that fans have enthusiastically received this trip down memory lane.
Describing their intention behind the mixtape, he remarked, “We wanted to recreate something like that for now in a non-cringy way,” applauding MGK’s evolution as an artist, as well as the broadening demographic of his fan base, that now includes a younger audience often found on TikTok.
While Peachie has been a regular presence on tour with her son in previous years, she is seeking to step back from the touring lifestyle, stating that she is “hanging up her jersey.” Nevertheless, her pride in Khalifa’s accomplishments remains unwavering. Speaking on their collaborative campaign with Lawry’s, she enthused, “This was very fun to do,” acknowledging the respect and admiration she has for his skills and professionalism in both the music industry and as her son.
As Khalifa continues to balance his family life, musical ambitions, and culinary interests, the “Mama Said Lawry’s” campaign stands as a testament to the enduring relationship between a mother and her son, beautifully captured under the lens of shared experiences and cherished traditions.
