**Former Teacher Sentenced for Felony Child Seduction in Indiana**

Torrie Lemon, a 24-year-old former kindergarten teacher at a private Christian school in Indianapolis, has been sentenced to 40 days in jail following her guilty plea to one count of felony child seduction. Lemon’s plea was accepted during a court session on 14 May, and she is expected to serve her sentence as part of a four-year term.
The situation came to light after school authorities were made aware of her inappropriate conduct with a 17-year-old student. Following an internal investigation that began on 10 April, the school took immediate action by placing Lemon on administrative leave and contacting both the Indiana Department of Child Services and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Subsequently, she was dismissed from her position.
According to legal documents, the investigation was prompted by a staff member who discovered an inappropriate video on the victim’s phone during a school trip to South Carolina. Lemon was present as a chaperone on this trip, and it was reported that a friend of the victim inadvertently uncovered the evidence while borrowing the phone, leading to the discovery of the relationship.
During an interview with police in South Carolina, Lemon allegedly confessed to having a sexual relationship with the student that lasted for approximately two months. She indicated that the bond began innocently but evolved into physical affection, with statements detailing how their interactions escalated from hugs to kisses and further intimacy.
The victim, when questioned by police, maintained that she had not initially intended for their relationship to turn sexual, asserting that it was meant to remain platonic. She described their friendship as progressing quickly, as evidenced by Lemon giving her gifts and flowers shortly after they became close.
Lemon’s relationship with the student allegedly extended into both her apartment located on the school grounds and the victim’s family home. The victim’s parents, upon learning of the friendship, expressed their unawareness regarding its true nature and the rapid escalation of their interactions.
Despite the clear boundaries that should have existed between teacher and student, text messages retrieved from Lemon’s phone revealed alarming exchanges. Among these were declarations of love and intimate references, indicating a concerning emotional and physical bond. One text reportedly read, “I love you more than I can describe. I love my girl,” further illustrating the inappropriate nature of their communication.
In a related development, Lemon faces additional charges in a neighbouring Marion County, which have also been classified as child seduction offences. Although information from the two jurisdictions overlapped, prosecutors clarified these are distinct cases, with further court proceedings scheduled.
As part of her sentencing, Lemon had already completed a portion of her jail time from 16 April to 14 May and received credit for good behaviour. Following her jail term, she will be placed on probation for an extended period.
The scandal surrounding Lemon has raised significant concerns within the community, particularly regarding the safety and well-being of students in educational institutions. Colonial Christian School has not only terminated her employment but has also faced scrutiny over how such misconduct occurred under their watch.
As the case evolves, Lemon is set to appear in Marion County court for a change of plea hearing later this month.
