Jon B, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and producer, is embracing the opportunity to chase his dreams through music. As he embarks on his Still Got Love Spring/Summer Tour, he reflects on the highlights of his career in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. This year marks the 30th anniversary of his debut album, *Bonafide*, which laid the foundation for his successful career in the music industry.

Recalling one of his notable achievements, Jon B spoke about his collaboration with the late Michael Jackson. “I remixed the song ‘You Are Not Alone’ for Michael Jackson,” he shared, highlighting that it was an official remix commissioned by Jackson’s team. “They asked me to do it, and I was honoured. At one point, I was managed by the same management company as Michael Jackson when I first started out,” he explained.
Although he has yet to see the recent biopic, *Michael*, which features Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of Michael, Jon B fondly remembered working in the studio with the music legend. “It’s an incredible honour,” he noted, reflecting on the collaborative spirit they shared. Unlike many artists who might rely on remote communication, Jon B recalls, “We worked in the same room, really collaborating, not over the phone or via text message.”
Throughout his career, Jon B has had the privilege of working with other iconic artists, including Tupac Shakur. He expressed that his primary motivation has always been to take advantage of the opportunities he has had. “Using the opportunity that I have as an artist to live out my dreams is key,” he remarked. For him, the essence of his career has been about collaborating with his favourite musicians.
Jon B’s journey began with the release of *Bonafide* in 1995, which featured his breakthrough single “Someone to Love,” featuring the renowned Babyface. He described the experience of having his first song included on the soundtrack of the blockbuster film, *Bad Boys*, as a tremendous honour. “I was a huge fan of him,” he exclaimed about Babyface, who remains a pivotal figure in Jon B’s musical aspirations.
His follow-up album, *Cool Relax*, produced another fan-favourite, the 1997 hit “They Don’t Know.” Even today, his followers continue to sing the song with great enthusiasm during his performances. “It’s still being sung in the club, and it all started with me shedding my feelings,” he remarked. “As a songwriter, that’s very fulfilling, and it makes me proud to see the audience sing it at the top of their lungs at every show.”
In March 2025, Jon B released his latest album, *Waiting on You*, which features prominent collaborations with Tank, Rick Ross, Donell Jones, and Alex Isley. He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his fans, acknowledging that it is their encouragement that allows him to continue producing music and touring. “Because of the fans and their support over the last 30, 31 years, I can put out albums and enjoy this incredible career,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Jon B’s next tour stop will be on Sunday, May 10, in Palm Springs, at the Morongo Casino. He is also preparing for several international dates, continuing to share his passion for music with audiences around the world. As he celebrates his past and embraces the present, Jon B remains dedicated to his craft and excited for what the future holds.
