Dalton was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a severe condition where the left side of the heart is underdeveloped. His health journey has involved multiple life-threatening encounters, including six open-heart surgeries and lengthy hospital stays. Dalton’s mother, Krista DeMicheli, recalls the anxiety that enveloped their family upon receiving the diagnosis during her pregnancy. “You go into it not expecting to hear bad news,” she reflected. The moment she was informed of Dalton’s condition altered their lives forever.
Despite the overwhelming circumstances, Dalton has shown remarkable perseverance and joy. Krista describes how, amid the uncertainty of hospital visits and medical procedures, Dalton has remained upbeat and spirited. Each day presents new hurdles, yet he finds happiness in small moments, whether on the baseball pitch or filming food reviews from his hospital bed.
His food reviews became a delightful distraction during his numerous hospital stays. A particular favourite was Pei Wei’s Honey Seared Chicken, which he ordered multiple times during his treatments. “He insisted on Pei Wei over cafeteria food,” Krista shared, highlighting how this dish provided comfort and normalcy amid the chaos of hospital life.
These light-hearted food reviews sparked not just joy for Dalton but also connection with others facing similar battles. “I can’t tell you how many people reached out, grateful for our story,” Krista explained. Her motivation in sharing their experiences was to convey that, despite the challenges, there remains hope and positivity.
Pei Wei took notice of Dalton’s engaging spirit through his video reviews. The company expressed admiration for the young boy’s resilience and positive outlook. “He’s faced more challenges than most adults yet greets life with energy and joy,” they remarked.

On April 30, they will donate a portion of the proceeds from every Honey Seared Chicken order to Dalton’s family, assisting them with ongoing medical costs and daily expenses. “It turns a simple meal into something bigger.
