Aaryan Balani’s journey into invention began after he developed the condition at the age of five due to an unfortunate accident involving a head injury.

Balani’s personal experience with strabismus has inspired him to create a solution that could potentially assist others facing similar challenges. He recalls the moment that changed his life when he bumped his head on a bathroom sink. “People often notice my physical difference and say things like, ‘You have a broken eye,’” Balani shared in an interview with ABC 7. Like many individuals with strabismus, he can realign his eye if he is conscious of it drifting; however, it can often wander if left unattended.


The innovative device, named EYEVA, resembles a visor and is designed to alert users when their eye begins to drift. Balani explained how the tool works, stating, “It will beep, and you’re alerted that you need to be aware of your face.” He believes that through consistent usage, it could aid wearers in retraining their eyes and maintaining proper alignment over time.
Balani’s creation involved the use of a 3D printer, alongside small cameras and artificial intelligence to achieve its intended functionality. He meticulously developed five prototypes over four months, refining his invention to meet the desired specifications.
