Rising country star Hudson Westbrook is gearing up to make his much-anticipated debut at the Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, California, on Sunday, April 26. At just 21, the Texas native, who has quickly garnered attention in the country music scene, is eager to share his music with festival-goers.
In a recent conversation, Westbrook expressed his excitement about this performance, revealing that he had never played in California before. “I was super excited when I got the call,” he said. “Stagecoach is such a special festival, and it’s a big deal to be part of it. I just love the vibe around it, from the way people dress to how they prepare for the festival.”
Westbrook first gained prominence in 2024 with the success of his singles “Take It Slow” and “House Again.” Before his music career took off, he was a student at Texas Tech University. However, the allure of country music led him to leave school behind and pursue his passion full time. His journey has proven fruitful, as he is now nominated for the New Male Artist of the Year at the upcoming 2026 ACM Awards and is currently working on his second album following the release of his debut record, *Texas Forever*, in 2025.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Westbrook shared, “I grew up showing pigs and working cattle, just like everyone else. If I can do it, then anyone can achieve their dreams.” His humble beginnings in a small town have undoubtedly shaped his character and musical style.

It’s about making that connection.” When asked about his favourite song to perform live, he highlighted “Take Your Time,” noting the unique synergy it creates with his band during live shows. “It’s our first song that we really played together as a band, and it has a really cool solo that ends with everyone coming together.”
Aside from his own performance, Westbrook is looking forward to catching sets from fellow artists. “I want to see Bailey Zimmerman and Elizabeth Nichols,” he said, mentioning that many of his friends will also be performing. He joked about the possibility of needing to leave early but expressed a desire to enjoy the festival atmosphere for a few days.
On the eve of the festival, Westbrook is set to release his new single, “Backwards,” on Friday, April 24. The song reflects the complexities of life on the road and the challenges of touring. “The inspiration behind it came from the reality of touring life – waking up at different venues and parties that stretch into the early hours,” he explained. “It evolved from being a breakup song to something much deeper.”
When discussing his experience on the road, Westbrook admitted that he has learned to navigate the demands of touring more effectively. “I’m not confused anymore about what I do. I enjoy this and know how to manage it better now,” he stated, acknowledging the importance of maintaining both physical and mental health while living the tour lifestyle.
With two new singles on the horizon, Westbrook hinted at an exciting project scheduled for release this autumn, though he didn’t divulge specific details. “We have something super big coming in the fall—something really cool related to touring as well—but I can’t share much more than that yet.”
Reflecting on his journey and the impact of his small-town roots, Westbrook concluded, “Growing up in a small town shapes who you are. At first, you want to escape and experience the world, but once you do, you realise that home has its own unique charm. In Stephenville, with a population of around 15,000, life was simple, and I didn’t have to worry about much other than football practice.”
