In an exciting announcement, LL Cool J, the Grammy-winning musician and star of NCIS, is set to take the stage for his first-ever residency in Las Vegas. The event, titled “Rock the Bells: The Residency,” is scheduled to run for 11 shows from May to July 2027, according to exclusive information received by PEOPLE.

The residency will be held at the Dolby Live venue at Park MGM, marking LL Cool J’s entry into a growing trend of artists opting for extended performances in a single location. This comes as the iconic rapper gears up for the much-anticipated Rock the Bells Festival, which is set to occur on November 29 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
In a press release, LL Cool J, born James Todd Smith, expressed his enthusiasm for the residency, describing it as a “cultural odyssey” that will feature DJs, immersive storytelling, dynamic production, and a lineup of special guests to be revealed soon. “Hip-hop started in a few neighbourhoods in New York, and now it belongs to the whole world,” he stated. “Rock the Bells celebrates everybody who was part of that story.”
The artist further emphasised the collaborative nature of the residency, saying, “This isn’t me doing a show in Vegas. It’s all of us. Artists from different generations and different genres, sharing one stage, for fans who were there at the beginning and kids hearing it for the first time. People from all over the world come to Vegas to celebrate, so this show belongs here.”
Chris Baldizan, Executive Vice President of Entertainment at MGM Resorts, praised LL Cool J as “a true hip-hop icon.” He noted that they are proud to collaborate with him on this groundbreaking concept at Dolby Live and referred to the residency as a high-energy production, which will become an exciting addition to their prestigious entertainment offerings.
The residency is set to kick off on May 15, 2027, with performances scheduled on selected dates throughout the summer, continuing until July. Ticket sales will be available through various pre-sale channels, beginning with Citi / AAdvantage cardmembers on October 30 at 10 a.m. PT. Other pre-sale opportunities will follow for MGM Rewards members and Live Nation customers, starting October 31.
For fans eager to attend, tickets for specific dates in May and July will be made available to the general public on November 2 at 10 a.m. PT through Ticketmaster, with all shows beginning at 8 p.m.
This announcement of LL Cool J’s residency closely follows his latest project, NCIS: New York, which premiered on October 6. As Special Agent Sam Hanna, he returns to a role he has cherished for 17 seasons, contributing to over 300 episodes across various NCIS spin-offs.
The upcoming Rock the Bells Festival also highlights LL Cool J’s dedication to celebrating hip-hop culture. Slated to feature performances from a roster of renowned artists, including SWV, Method Man & Redman, Lil’ Kim, Kool G Rap, and others, the festival aims to unite fans from various generations in honour of the genre’s influence worldwide.
As anticipation builds for both the residency and the festival, LL Cool J remains enthusiastic about his multi-faceted career. “Not many people get Rambos and Rockys and Sam Hannas,” he remarked, conveying his excitement while indicating he intends to navigate these opportunities one step at a time.
With a legacy spanning decades, LL Cool J’s upcoming residency promises to be a significant highlight in Las Vegas, celebrating the rich tapestry of hip-hop music and culture while inviting fans to partake in a grand shared experience.
