A pet owner in Livonia, Michigan, is facing an anxious wait for news about his missing dog, Daisy, who is believed to have been shot by a delivery driver. The incident has left its owner, Adam Forma, grappling with a growing sense of despair regarding the fate of his beloved Australian shepherd.

The harrowing event took place on Sunday, April 5, when Forma alleges that the delivery driver, working for Walmart’s Spark delivery service, shot Daisy as part of what he described as an altercation during a routine delivery. According to Forma, the driver was delivering a package of marshmallow Peeps that had been incorrectly addressed, but the circumstances of how the shooting occurred remain unclear.
Forma recounted his experience upon returning home, explaining that he had learned from neighbours that the delivery driver claimed Daisy had charged at him. “I get there and they say the delivery driver made a delivery to your house and the dog barged through the door,” Forma told local radio. However, he expressed confusion, noting that both his front doors were securely shut at the time.

Following the incident, the driver reportedly remained on the scene, telling the police that he felt threatened and thus fired his weapon. This has prompted ongoing scrutiny of the driver’s actions, particularly given the nature of the setting—that of a residential neighbourhood on a holiday afternoon.
In the aftermath of Daisy’s disappearance, Forma and his family have embarked on an extensive search throughout their locality. They have enlisted various means to aid their efforts, including the use of a drone, yet despite their efforts, Forma voiced his anxiety about the situation, stating, “I don’t expect a good outcome.”
The emotional toll is being felt keenly by Forma’s family. He highlighted the distress experienced by his other dog, Lucy, who is deaf and seems to be struggling without her companion. “She just wants her friend back,” Forma lamented, revealing that his son was so affected by the events that he stayed home from school, holding out hope for Daisy’s return.
Forma’s frustration has been further compounded by the actions of the delivery driver. He expressed disbelief that the driver resorted to shooting his dog, especially given the peaceful nature of their neighbourhood. “You’re in the middle of a residential neighbourhood on a holiday afternoon, and you thought your best effort was to shoot my dog,” he stated.
In light of these circumstances, Forma has reached out to the community for assistance. He took to social media, appealing to local residents to check their gardens and any concealed areas in an effort to locate Daisy. “Please, it will take just a few minutes and might answer some questions,” he urged in a heartfelt appeal.
The incident raises broader questions regarding the responsibilities and actions of delivery drivers, particularly those contracted by large companies like Walmart. The nature of the Spark delivery service allows independent contractors to deliver goods, which may pose unique challenges in terms of accountability and proper training in dealing with pets.
At present, both Walmart and the Livonia Police Department have been contacted for statements regarding the incident, but there has been no update on their responses. As the Forma family continues their search, the community watches closely, hoping for a positive outcome and the safe return of Daisy.
