**Sia and Daniel Bernad Reach Child Support Agreement Following Divorce Proceedings**

Award-winning musician Sia Furler and her estranged husband, Daniel Bernad, have come to a formal agreement regarding child support and custody for their son, Somersault Wonder Bernad. The arrangements were confirmed in court documents filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, as reported on April 6, 2024.
Sia, best known for her hit song “Chandelier,” will pay Bernad a substantial monthly child support sum of £42,500. This financial support began on April 1 and is set to continue until their son turns 18. However, if Somersault finishes high school full-time before that age, payments will cease upon his graduation or on his 19th birthday. Certain conditions, such as the death of one parent or other legal developments, could also affect the continuation of these payments.
In addition to the agreed-upon monthly child support, the court order stipulates that Sia is responsible for her child’s private schooling, extracurricular activities that they mutually decide upon, and any uncovered healthcare expenses. Furthermore, she is required to maintain health insurance for her son during his upbringing.
The agreement aims to secure Somersault’s financial future as well. Sia must either keep a life insurance policy worth £5 million with Somersault as the beneficiary or create a trust to ensure he has financial support if she were to pass away before he becomes an adult.
Custody arrangements have also been established, giving both parents joint legal custody of Somersault. The physical custody schedule has been meticulously outlined to commence on April 1, detailing weekday and weekend arrangements. Specific instructions have also been drafted regarding holiday custody, with Sia retaining custody on occasions such as Mother’s Day and Christmas, while Bernad will have custody on Father’s Day and parts of Hanukkah.
The divorce between Sia and Bernad has been tumultuous and ongoing, with Sia initially filing for divorce in March 2025, just one year after they welcomed their son. The couple, married since 2022, has faced various legal disputes since their separation.
In a twist to the proceedings, Bernad sought sole legal and physical custody in October 2025, presenting allegations that Sia was an “unfit and unreliable parent” dealing with substance abuse issues. However, Sia quickly countered these claims, asserting in a separate court filing that she had been sober for over six months and was engaged in a comprehensive recovery programme involving regular testing and the support of a sober companion.
“My recovery has been a cornerstone of my life,” Sia stated in her court response, indicating that their differing lifestyles had contributed to their marital break. A judge ultimately denied Bernad’s request for emergency sole custody, concluding that there was insufficient urgency to warrant such a significant legal change.
Additionally, during the course of the divorce proceedings, Bernad had sought temporary spousal support totalling £250,856 per month, along with extra funds to cover legal and forensic accounting fees. He noted that he had ceased income from his medical career to venture into a business partnership with Sia. However, according to the recent court filing from April 6, the matter of spousal support was resolved independently in December 2025.
As Sia and Bernad navigate the complexities of co-parenting, it is clear that their priority remains the well-being of their son, ensuring that he has a stable environment amidst the ongoing changes in his family’s structure.
