She observed how both Keough and Claflin had to go through substantial hardships to bring their characters to life. “I saw Riley Keough and Sam Claflin go through hell on Daisy Jones & the Six,” Morrone remarked.
The actress noted that watching Keough, who held the top position on the call sheet, was both inspiring and intimidating. “I remember looking at Riley and being like, ‘Wow, I’m jealous of your job, but also really scared of that,'” she admitted. Morrone described Keough’s condition during filming, saying she appeared “withered” and “down,” yet demonstrated remarkable resilience. “She was a real gangster for pushing through it all,” Morrone continued.
The commitment involved in creating “Daisy Jones & the Six” extended beyond mere acting. Both Keough and Claflin had to perform musical numbers, repeatedly singing and playing instruments as part of their roles. “They had to do it millions of times,” Morrone explained, highlighting the dedication needed for their characters. Despite the difficulties, she shared that the cast cherished their time on set and felt immensely grateful for the opportunity. “We were so grateful that we did it and it’s changed all of our lives,” she added.
Morrone’s reflections are echoed by Taylor Jenkins Reid, the author of the novel that inspired the series. Reid expressed her delight in seeing Keough embody the character of Daisy Jones, stating, “From the second [Keough’s] name showed up in my inbox, it was like absolutely yes.” She emphasised the depth of understanding both Keough and Claflin brought to their roles, expressing that they grasped the essence of their characters just as she had imagined them.
As Reid’s other works are set for adaptation, she acknowledges the pressure that comes with the success of “Daisy Jones.” She noted, “Riley is so perfectly cast as Daisy. It sets a really high bar.” The show has made a substantial impact, rendering it a defining experience for all involved.
