Emergency services were alerted to the shooting shortly after 8:30 am local time. Deputies from the Comal County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene to find that a teacher had been seriously injured and the suspected shooter was deceased, having apparently inflicted a fatal wound on himself shortly after the attack. Although the injured teacher was quickly transported to a hospital in San Antonio, her current condition has not been made public as investigations continue.

Sheriff Mark Reynolds of the Comal County Sheriff’s Office conducted a press briefing where he confirmed the tragic sequence of events. “The student shot the teacher and then, what we believe, is that the student turned the gun on himself,” he stated. He further reassured the community that the situation had been swiftly contained and there was no ongoing threat. “This was an isolated incident,” he emphasised.
There are still many unanswered questions regarding the motive behind the shooting as well as the circumstances that led to the possession of a firearm by the student. Authorities are currently investigating how the youth obtained the weapon and any potential connections between him and the teacher involved. It has been confirmed that further details regarding their identities will remain undisclosed for privacy considerations.
Following the incident, students were safely evacuated and taken to Bulverde Middle School to reunite with their families. This precaution was part of the school’s lockdown protocol, which was activated as soon as the shooting was reported. Among those present were the parents of the suspected shooter, indicating the severity of the situation was fully realized by families within the community.
