In her video posted on 23rd February, Powers revealed that she was conceived through in vitro fertilisation (IVF). She revealed that her mother, who is renowned for her design expertise, and her father, Bill Powers, desired a baby boy for their second child. Powers explained how her parents approached the IVF process aimed specifically at adding a male child to their family.

Interestingly, she recounted that only male embryos were initially selected, with the exception of one female embryo, which turned out to be herself. “They really only put in boy embryos and one girl embryo,” she remarked with a playful whisper, gesturing to herself, “Me.” This unexpected twist in her origins story garnered the attention of her TikTok followers, as Powers elaborated on how medical professionals assured Rowley of the outcome.
“The doctor literally said, ‘You’re having boys, at least twins,'” she continued, offering a humorous reminder of her mother’s expectations for her family. With a hint of cheekiness in her tone, she expressed, “Needless to say, she got a daughter. I beat up all those boys.”
Gigi Powers is not the only member of her family stepping into the spotlight. Her eldest sister, Kit Keenan, 26, has gained fame herself as a contestant on the 25th season of The Bachelor. Since her time on the dating show, Keenan has cultivated a substantial online following, boasting over 347,000 TikTok followers and a similar number on Instagram.
Keenan is well-known for her culinary content, describing herself as a “young Martha Stewart stuck in Blair Waldorf’s plotline” in her Instagram bio. While Gigi Powers has recently begun to carve out her own identity within the social media landscape, she has also reflected on the challenges of being recognised in the shadow of her mother’s successful career.
In interviews, Powers has candidly discussed the struggles associated with perceptions shaped by her upbringing. Referencing the comparisons to the character Blair Waldorf from the popular series Gossip Girl, she explained, “I think people think that my life is like Gossip Girl. I’ve kind of played into it a little bit.” Yet, she emphasised that her reality involves much more than the glamorous exterior often associated with fashion circles.
In a podcast appearance on Bachelor Happy Hour, co-hosted by Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin, Kit articulated her gratitude for the advantageous opportunities presented by her background but articulated a desire to be appreciated for her individuality. “At the end of the day, it’s not like I’m going to fashion shows every day. That’s part of my life,” she said, adding, “The glamorous things? Yes, I’ve been able to experience a lot of that, but it doesn’t mean that I’m not down to cook dinner at home. I’m very much an introvert.”
Both sisters, while navigating their identities in the public eye, exemplify the complexities of growing up in a family renowned for their accomplishments in the fashion industry. Cynthia Rowley, respected for her innovative contributions, has instilled in both her daughters a mix of creativity and pragmatism.
As Gigi Powers and Kit Keenan continue to establish their own paths, they embody a fresh perspective on the interplay between personal narratives and public perceptions, revealing that their lives, though intertwined with glamour, contain experiences and aspirations beyond the scope of fashion.
In an era where social media significantly influences self-representation, both sisters are making strides to define themselves in ways that reflect their individual passions and ambitions, showcasing the multifaceted nature of life as part of a celebrated family dynasty. As they journey forward, their captivating stories unfold, proving that the world of fashion is not merely about appearances but is also steeped in personal history and authentic experiences.
