Renowned stylist and television host Stacy London recently shared insights into her decision to host a three-day estate sale at her Brooklyn, N.Y., home. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, London expressed her desire to feel free from the possessions she had accumulated over the past two decades. The sale, which ran from Nov. 14 to Nov. 16, featured a variety of items including clothing, accessories, art, furniture, and decor that London had collected during her time in the apartment.

London, best known for her role on “What Not to Wear,” reflected on the significance of this move at this stage of her life. At 56 years old, she felt a strong urge to start afresh and declutter her living space. She mentioned, “I am sort of blowing up my life. I am going to be 57 in May…I’ve been filling [my apartment] for 20 years, and I was like, ‘I can’t leave.’ I started to feel very precious about my stuff, and I realized that I don’t want to be ruled by stuff.”

Months of planning went into organising the estate sale, which attracted the interest of around 2,000 individuals seeking to purchase items from London’s collection. Despite initial concerns about parting with her belongings, London found the experience to be liberating. She shared, “I was so relieved to see everything go to such great people.” The process was not bittersweet for her; instead, it brought her immense joy to witness her possessions finding new homes.
As London looks forward to her 57th birthday, she embraces this phase of transition as an opportunity for growth and renewal. She highlighted the importance of continuously seeking new experiences and connections in life. London mentioned, “I’ve had a lot of new chapters…I do believe that it’s the way to stay energetic.” She also mentioned her interest in studying to become a death doula, emphasizing the need for activities that foster meaningful connections.
In addition to the estate sale, London has been actively engaged in a partnership with QVC since 2024, introducing her fashion line, by Stacy London, tailored for individuals over 50. At the recent QVC Holiday House event in New York City, London showcased a selection of her designs alongside other notable figures in the industry. Her collection features a range of pieces, from faux leather trousers to festive velvet blazers, catering to a diverse audience.
While London is known for her stylish ensembles and glamorous looks, she shared a more relaxed approach to holiday dressing, advocating for staying comfortable in loungewear during the festive season. Despite her affinity for fashion and elegance, London appreciates the simplicity and comfort of staying in pyjamas till late morning. She joked, “I don’t think during the holidays you’re [not] supposed to get out of PJs until 1 in the afternoon.”
London’s recent endeavours reflect her evolving perspective on life and style, encompassing both personal growth and professional success. Through her estate sale and collaborations with brands like QVC, she continues to inspire others with her authenticity and willingness to embrace change.(‘,’,”)
