Bethenny Frankel, a familiar face from the reality television world, is embarking on a fitness journey, driven by a desire to adopt a more serious approach to her health. The 55-year-old entrepreneur and founder of SkinnyGirl recently shared her progress on social media, revealing that she has completed four workouts with a personal trainer since starting this new regimen.
In an Instagram video posted on 1 October, Frankel expressed her resolve, saying, “Welcome to my fitness journey.” She went on to humorously add that she might as well add “fitness influencer” to her list of titles, a nod to the growing trend of celebrities sharing their workout routines online.

Frankel explained her decision to hire a trainer stemmed from past experiences that had left her feeling dispirited and demotivated. She noted that previous attempts to maintain an exercise routine fell flat, mainly due to training partners with overly ambitious expectations. “I had a trainer who was a major athlete or a woman who wanted to hit a home run, and I ended up hating it after just 20 minutes. I was constantly counting down the minutes until it was over,” she said.
This time around, Frankel has made a conscious effort to set herself up for success. She searched for a trainer who incorporates yoga and light weights into her sessions, with a focus on strength and stretching rather than intense workouts. Moreover, Frankel expressed the importance of finding a trainer who resembled her own body type, stating that it helps her relate better to the experience.
In her pursuit of fitness, Frankel has begun to embrace various physical activities. Currently, her approach involves a mix of moderate cardio, including walks whenever the weather feels right, coupled with gym sessions that feature varied workouts tailored to her capability. “Each day is different, but the workouts are reasonable. I’m not tackling crazy numbers of repetitions,” she elaborated.
Acknowledging her previous lack of commitment to fitness, Frankel reflected, “You’re talking about someone who does nothing. So to be doing anything is a step in the right direction. I’ve done this for four days, and now I’m an amateur expert,” she quipped, injecting a bit of self-deprecating humour into her fitness narrative.
The reality star candidly acknowledged her age as a motivating factor for this new endeavour. “I’ve gotten away with this for too long, and it’s time for me to take this seriously.” Frankel emphasised that her focus would now be on maintaining a reasonable and enjoyable approach to fitness, free from the burdens of past training methodologies that did not work for her.
Further diversifying her physical pursuits, Frankel has started participating in padel, a sport that merges elements of squash and tennis, which she recently enjoyed with her 16-year-old daughter, Bryn. In a jovial statement, she remarked, “I’m an athlete now,” reflecting her newfound enthusiasm for engaging in various sports.
Looking ahead, Frankel has mapped out a fitness strategy that includes exercising three to four times a week, alongside her appealing walks, padel sessions, and a love for other activities such as swimming and snowboarding. “Exercise should be something you have a good relationship with, that you enjoy. Otherwise, you’re less likely to stick with it,” she concluded.
As Frankel chronicles her fitness journey, she serves as a reminder that meaningful lifestyle change is possible at any age, especially when one finds a routine that fits their individual needs and preferences. With her light-hearted approach and willingness to share the process, followers can look forward to watching how her fitness adventure unfolds.
