Sophie Grégoire has shared her thoughts on the public revelation of her estranged husband, Justin Trudeau’s, romance with Katy Perry. Trudeau, the former Canadian Prime Minister, and Perry recently made their first public appearance together, sparking public interest. Grégoire’s reflections on the situation were revealed during an episode of the ‘Arlene is Alone’ podcast.

In the podcast episode that aired on November 12, Grégoire, aged 50, revealed her perspective on dealing with the news of her ex-husband dating someone new. When asked by host Arlene Dickinson about how she has coped with the media attention surrounding Trudeau and Perry’s relationship, Grégoire shared, “We’re human beings and stuff affects us. Normal. How you react to stuff is your decision. So I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise.”
Acknowledging the impact of public scrutiny on her emotions, Grégoire continued, stating, “I’m very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers. Right, we’re humans. What I do with it is my decision. The woman I want to become through this is my decision.”
Following Trudeau and Perry’s public debut as a couple in Paris on October 25, Grégoire expressed her need to allow herself to process her feelings amidst the news. She emphasised the importance of acknowledging and experiencing emotions, even as she navigates the complexities of her personal life being in the spotlight.
Grégoire, who announced her separation from Trudeau after an 18-year marriage in 2023, highlighted the significance of allowing herself to feel disappointment, anger, and sadness. As an advocate for mental health awareness, she stressed the importance of acknowledging and expressing these emotions.
While Grégoire has been honest about her emotional journey following the news of Trudeau’s new relationship, she also shared her perspective on maintaining a balanced approach. She expressed her desire not to be solely reactionary but to focus on making conscious choices that align with her personal growth and well-being.
In terms of co-parenting their three children – Xavier (18), Ella-Grace (16), and Hadrien (11) – Grégoire and Trudeau have prioritised creating a cohesive and supportive family environment post-separation. Despite leading separate lives, they are committed to nurturing their family unit together, ensuring stability and unity for their children.
Through her openness in discussing her experiences and challenges, Sophie Grégoire exemplifies resilience and introspection in the face of personal difficulties. Her reflections offer insight into navigating complex emotions and relationships in the public eye. As the story unfolds, Grégoire’s journey of self-discovery and emotional resilience continues to inspire others facing similar circumstances.
