Netflix has taken another step in the entertainment industry by announcing that a sing-along version of its popular animated film ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ will be shown in select movie theatres across the United States and Canada on August 23 and 24. Since its debut on Netflix on June 20, the film has quickly risen to become the platform’s fourth most-watched movie. Its hit song “Golden” has also climbed to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while another track, “Idol,” secured a spot in the top ten.

The announcement of the sing-along event, named ‘KPop Demon Hunters A Sing-Along Event,’ has garnered excitement among fans of the film who will have the opportunity to gather in theatres, join forces, and belt out their favourite tunes together. Netflix shared in a statement, “HUNTR/X and SAJA BOYS fans can join together to sing their hearts out and seal the Honmoon with a limited theatrical screening event.”

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ follows the journey of protagonists Rumi, Mira, and Zoey as they navigate their lives as Kpop stars by day and demon hunters by night, battling supernatural threats that endanger the world, including rival boy band SAJA BOYS. The film has achieved significant success since its release, accumulating a staggering 56.1 million views and landing in Netflix’s top 10 in 93 countries.
The film’s soundtrack has also made waves, with the song “Golden” by EJAE, Audrey Nuna & REI AMI reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This accomplishment marks a milestone as the first song from a female group to achieve this since Destiny’s Child in 2001. Another track, “Idol” by Saja Boys, made its mark on the chart by securing the eighth position, while other songs from the film also gained popularity.
The album of ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and later climbed to No. 2, making it the highest-charting animated soundtrack of 2025 and the best since Disney’s ‘Encanto’ in 2021. During an earnings call, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos expressed his admiration for the film, calling it a “phenomenal success out of the gate” and hinting at potential sequels and a live-action remake in the future.
The overwhelming response and positive reception of ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ have not gone unnoticed by Netflix, with reports suggesting that the streamer is considering expanding the franchise to include animated sequels and a live-action adaptation, among other media ventures. The sing-along event for ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ will take place on August 23 and 24, with tickets set to go on sale on Wednesday, August 13.
As Netflix continues to break boundaries and captivate audiences with its diverse range of content, the success of ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ reaffirms the platform’s position as a powerhouse in the world of entertainment. Fans eagerly anticipating the sing-along screenings are sure to have a memorable and immersive experience as they come together to celebrate the film’s music and message in a communal setting.
